Calamity will befall on people no doubt. During times of trials, be strong, have hope and look at those in worse situations so it can console within that I am not in as bad situation.

Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) said,“If anything afflicts you, do not say, ‘If I had done such and such things, such and such would have happened.’ But say, ‘Allah decrees and what He wills He does,’ for (the utterance) ‘If I had’ provides an opening for the influences of the devil.” (Tirmidhi)

How should you react to calamity? Do not question decree and think; why me! Why me! Rather, believe there is goodness in the trials and reflect on the favours of Allah. At the time trouble befalls you always say Alhamdulillah- sometimes if we’re struggling to find something to say. Silence is always better until we have processed our emotions.

Expressing sadness over pain is natural and okay, this doesn’t mean you are unhappy with the Will of Allah.

Even Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) expressed grief when he lost his son Ibrahim. It is permissible to feel sad as long as it is not rejecting the decree.

The examples you mentioned getting abused, experiencing trauma and loneliness are part of one’s decree. Allah allowed it to happen, to test us to strengthen our Iman or to see if we would abandon our faith. So we must continue to be steadfast on our faith and not give up. Always have hope in Allah and be patient.

وَلَا تَيْأَسُوا مِنْ رَوْحِ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَا يَيْأَسُ مِنْ رَوْحِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْكَافِرُونَ

"Truly no one despairs of Allah's Soothing Mercy except those who have no faith. (Surah Yusuf 12:87)
