Question: Zakaat on land given to me as a gift
Aslm.
I have been gifted a land by my father in law. What is the ruling of zakaat on this piece of land for me .Jazak Allah

In principle, if the land has been acquired specifically for trading purposes then Zakat will be necessary.

So if the land was gifted to you and you don’t use it for the purpose of trading in it then Zakat will not be compulsory.
