Bismihi Ta'ala

The Ruh (soul) is not free to travel anywhere it wishes. It cannot contact the living. Neither can the living establish any form of contact with the ruh.

When a person dies, his Ruh is either taken to a place called Illiyyeen or Sijjeen, according to the life lead by the person in whom the soul resided in. Illiyyeen is the place for good souls and Sijjeen is the place for evil souls.
