Bismihi Ta'ala

Allah Ta'ala describes the Companions of Rasoolullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam in the Qur'an as to having marks on their heads due to the effect of Sujood (prostration).

However, this doesn't mean that they had marks on their foreheads. Instead, it means that their faces are unusually enlightened due to which they can be easily recognised as punctual Salaah observers and performers. A hadith of Ibn Majah confirms this even further. The Hadith is as follows: Jaabir Radiallahu anhu narrates that Rasoolullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam has said, " Whoevers night prayer (Tahajjud) is abundant, his face is unusually beautifully enlightened throughout the day".

From the above-mentioned we may conclude that this is not the benchmark through which the piety of any inividual is assessed. It is possible for any human to have such a mark, whether pious or not. We shouldn't make assumptions if any person doesn't have this mark.

It is not necessarily true that if a person has this mark then he is a frequent performer of Salaah. Neither does it mean that to be a frequent Salaah performer, one must have the mark on his/her forehead.

And Allah knows best.
