Question: earrings
Asslamaikum warahmtullah wabarakatohu

Where it is stated that women are allowed to have their ears pierced, i understand the prophets wives wore earings, but there is no mention that their ears were pierced to accomodate these.
Also what is the status on nose piercings as some scholars say it is allowed while others say it is not allowed.

Jazakallah

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem
Al Jawaab Billahit-Tawfeeq

Respected Sister,

Jabir bin 'Abdullah (radhiallahu 'anhu) reported: I observed prayer with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) on Eid. He (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) commenced with prayer before the sermon without Adhan and Iqamah. He (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) then stood up leaning on Bilal (radhiallahu 'anhu), and he (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) commanded (them) to be on guard (against evil for the sake of) Allah, and he (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) exhorted (them) on obedience to Him, and he (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) preached to the people and admonished them.

He (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) then walked on till he came to the women and preached to them and admonished them, and asked them to give alms, for most of them are the fuel for Hell. A woman having a dark spot on the cheek stood up and said: Why is it so, Messenger of Allah? He (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: For you complain often and show ingratitude towards your spouse. And then they began to give alms out of their ornaments such as their earrings and rings which they threw on to the cloth of Bilal (radhiallahu 'anhu). (Muslim)

Note: One of the things which the womenfolk gave in charity was 'earrings'.
