Respected sister,

Just because another person does something it does not make it permissable. We need to understand that the only way we will know what is right and wrong is if we study the Qur'an and Ahadeeth (under the proper guidance of a teacher) and the life of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him).

Alcohol was consumed in the time of our Prophet (peace be upon him) by the non-mulsims, but this did not make it permissable.
