Question: Holding and reciting from a book/kithaab containing quraaninc ayaahs
During my menstrual cycles i read a collection of quraanic ayaahs compiled into one book/kithaab as Duah or Zikr and NOT as Tilawat.
I wanted to clearify the following:-
1) Is it permisable for me to hold this khitaab while reading bearing in mind i am in Haid.
2) Is there any ruling i should make wuduh before reading this kithaab.

The kithaab that i read is called My Companian compiled by Al Islaah Publications, Kroonstad, South Africa.
This book emphasises that i am permissable to do as i asked you in my question but i still want to get as many opinions as possible.

Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah's guidance)


To touch the Quran, any verses (or to wear any thing that contains Quranic Ayat (verses)) and to read it verbally will not be permissible, during Haidh and Nifas.

To write any Quranic Ayat will not be permitted, one should write the translation or reference of the Ayat.

It will be permissible to touch the Kitab (compiled Duas from Quran and Hadith) without Wudhu, however it is best to be in Wudhu.

To read any Quranic Ayat translation or exegesis will be permissible.

Duas that are from Quran or Hadith, one must have the intention of reading it as Dua and not Tilawah. Also, to read any Zikr, Durood Shareef is permissible. (Aapke Masaa'il Aur Unka Hal Vol. 2 Pg. 71, 72, 73)
