Question: Boycotting Products
I would like to ask a question regarding boycotting products. I would like to ask regarding boycotting French products, as I have heard on the news I think around 2020 that the president has been and shown Islamophobia. Astaghfirullah I feel very sad and upset about this am a Sunni Muslim and would like to ask a hanafi viewpoint, regarding this situation. I remember seeing on the news around 2020 that some shops had completely gotten rid and boycotted French products. I am wondering if this is fardh on us in respect of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW), or if we still buy French products that we are not sinful or disrespectful in anyway Astaghfirullah. I overthink a lot but I know that a lot of Muslims still buy french products so if I boycotted alone would it make a difference to French companies as I do not know if globally Muslims still boycott these products. For example companies such as L'Oréal, I am not sure on there viewpoint on Islam but the money would still go to France? I want to make sure I do not feel guilty when purchasing things even though I don't know if other Muslims still are boycotting. For example I see a lot of Muslim women have the longchamp handbag and I went and checked the following of Sophie Delafontaine who I think is one of the owners. She follows the French president. Does this mean she supports the ideas of what he says about Islam? can I use this assumption to not buy her products or can I still buy it. I don’t think a lot of Muslim women research or think this far before buying a bag and now I overthink before buying any french product. I am thinking if I am sinning or supporting her through buying this bag for example. I do not want to do anything that is kufr or disrespectful and I am always overthinking about this.

Boycotting goods of a country if they are actively against Muslims or a company if their profits is assisting those who are actively against Muslims then one must abstain from purchasing the products of that company or goods of that country. However If one doesn’t boycott one will not be sinful or committing Kufr.
