I swore on the name of my mother that i wont smoke again

i swore on the name of my mother that i wont smoke again but i can not keep it as i was infront of her and my siblings and they strongly disliked and there was no other option but i want to smoke sometimes not on regular basis but sometimes its very difficult to control anger and manage stress do tell me what should i do? is anything happen to my mom after i break the vow is there any kaffara i can give and continue?

الجواب حامداومصليا

This is an invalid oath. Islam prohibits taking oath other than the name of Allah. So taking an oath by the name of your mother is invalid and ineffective.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ مَنْ كَانَ حَالِفًا فَلْيَحْلِفْ بِاللَّهِ أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

The Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) said, "Allah has prohibited you from taking an oath by your fathers. He who must take an oath, may do so by swearing in the Name of Allah or he should remain silent.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

والحديث وهوقوله صلي الله عليه وسلم من كان حالفا فليحلف بالله تعالي الخ محمول عند الأكثرين علي غير التعليق فانه يكره اتفاقا لما فيه مشاركة المقسم به لله تعالي في التعظيم الخ
(ردالمحتار,كتاب الأيمان, 3\705)
