insanity/possesion and talaq

a - does talaq by a man suffering from mental illness countb - does talaq by a man possed by a jinn count (he says the jinn was trying break the marriage)

Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah's guidance)



If the man is totally consumed to the level of insanity (Junoon) where he is unaware and does not understand his actions and statements then the Talaq will be invalid in the Shari'ah.

This ruling also applies to a man who is possessed by a Jinn.
