Salam alaykum, Let's imagine that a Muslim becomes an apostate. If he dies without having pronounced the shahada but sincerely believes in the reality of Islam, will he be treated in exactly the same way as a disbeliever who does not believe in the reality of Islam (i.e. both will be sent eternally to hell)? Is there ijma` on this question?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الجواب حامداومصليا

One must repent and reaffirm his belief.

And Allah knows best
