Vinegar from alcohol

Assalamu alaikum, I would to know if vinegar from alcohol, brandy or whisky or regardless the source is Halal or no even if contains traces of alcohol. And also if it is accepted for Maliki Fiqh or no. What is the answer of the following Hadith according to Fiqh Abu Hanifah: According to what is reported from Hz. Anas b. Malik, when Abu Talha asked what he should do with the wine that was left to orphans as inheritance, the Prophet (pbuh) said, "Pour it out." Abu Talha asked, "Shall I not make vinegar out of it?" The Prophet (pbuh) said, "No!" (Tirmidhi, Buyu 58)

Vinegar sourced from alcohol is permissible according to Imam Abu Hanifa. This is contrary to other scholars like Imam Shafi, Imam Malik and Ahmad bin Hambal.

As for the Hadith indicating prohibition of making vinegar from alcohol, the answer is:

(a) in the early days of the prohibition of alcohol people still had love for it, Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم ) feared that people will fall into it again and prohibited with impropriety of making vinegar from alcohol. When the prohibition lapsed for while the fear was no longer there and became permissible.

(b) the meaning of prohibition is of warning and hating it.

There are other Hadith that supports making vinegar from alcohol.

نعم الإدام الخل
(رواه مسلم)
The best gravy is vinegar. (Muslim)

خير خلكم خل خمركم
(رواه البيهقي)
Your best vinegar is the vinegar of alcohol. (Al Baihaqi)


سئل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أيتخذ الخمر خلا فقال لا هذا دليل الآئمة الثلاثة وعند أبي حنيفة يجوز التخليل قال في المرقاة أما الجواب عن قوله صلي الله عليه وسلم لا عند من يجوز تخليل الخمر أن القوم كانت نفوسهم ألفة بالخمر وكل مألوف تميل اليه النفس فخشي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من دواخل الشيطان فيها فنهاهم عن إقترانهم نهي تنزيه كيلا يتخذ التخليل وسيلة إليها وأما بعد طول عهد التحريم فلايخشي هذه الدواخل

محمول علي الزجر والتنفير يدل عليه ما في الحاشية من إطلاق الحديث نعم الإدام الخل رواه مسلم وخصوص الحديث خير خلكم خل خمركم رواه البيهقي
