I am a Christian, but I recently started researching Islam and I am intrigued and in love with the teachings of Muhammad. I was wondering, if I were to join Islam, what it’s teachings are on Christianity and whether or not I could continue to have faith in Jesus Christ while following Islam?
Eisa or Jesus and his mother Mary are both revered in Islam. There is even a chapter in the Quran dedicated to Mary or Maryam. See chapter 19.
When one submits himself/herself to Islam, believes in the oneness of Allah and doesn’t associate any partners with Him and to believe that Muhammad (Peace be upon him) to be the last and final Messenger sent by Allah and whatever was revealed to him the last divine book, The Quran, is called a Muslim.
So following Islam and believing Jesus a servant and Messenger of Allah and not a son is necessary. Otherwise, one cannot join Islam whilst still having Christian beliefs.
Say, “O people of the Book, come to a word common between us and between you, that we worship none but Allah, that we associate nothing with Him and that some of us do not take others as Lords instead of Allah.” Then, should they turn back, say, “Bear witness that we are Muslims.” (3:64)
Muslim and Christian are alike we believe in one God and not to associate partners with Him.
