Surely, the likeness of this world is that of a snake: it is soft to touch, and deadly poisonous. The ignorant child is distracted by it, and the one with understanding and intellect is cautious of it. So turn away from what fascinates you in it, for how little of it stays with you - Ali RA-

“Do not look at the people’s faults as if you are lords, but look at your own faults as if you are slaves, because people are of two types: afflicted and pardoned. So have mercy on the afflicted and thank Allaah for pardoning you and protecting you from it.”

Allah has a water container in the earth, which is the heart. The hearts that Allah likes most are those which are the strongest, the purest, and the softest--------strongest in religion, purest in trust, and softest towards one's brother. [Ali radi Allah anhu]

The force that opposes determination is inertia. Inertia is not a static thing; it is a dynamic force. Like any force, it tends to magnify itself and gain momentum until or unless it is superceded by another force stronger than itself. We slip into undertow of inertia, and then forsake our commitment. It takes a strong will to buck inertia, but overcome it we must. When we refuse to be intimidated by unchosen habit, and we do just one act of our practice again, the momentum of the practice will increase, and it will be easier and easier, and not harder and harder, to continue. It's all a matter of vectors and dynamic momentum.

Bear in mind that those who carry others' secrets to you might bear yours to others. Do not give such tactless people any chance to learn even the smallest details of your private concerns. [Fethullah Gulen]

There are going to be rewarding days and there are going to be days when you just want to quit. They are all part of the job. On the tough days, just keep plugging away. Look at the job from a broader perspective----and that will make a difference. Character is the ability to follow through on a project long after the mood has passed. Often, we must stick to a task even if the goal does not seem to be at hand. [Cohen, The Dragon Doesn't Live Here Anymore]
