Bismillahirrahimanirrahim

Assalaamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu:

Insha'Allah step-by-step instructions fit for a novice would be much appreciated; one step at a time please... will reply whether the step was completed successfully or if more assistance is needed.

Insha'Allah, the goal is to get proper exposure on google searches (i.e. location specific and on first page). As it is, the site doesn't even show up (or maybe it is so far down the pages that it is nearly impossible to locate)!

Also, would prefer 'free' tools but... perhaps something like Google AdWords would be useful. Has anyone used it? Is it worth considering?

JazakAllah khayran.

Sorry cant be of much help, all I can say is that keywords are a vital asset.

When people do google searches, I think the key words (tags) help a lot.

You can also get stats from Google itself on webmaster tools. Don't ask me how, maybe Maulana can help here.

Alhamdulillah, Google analytics is used for stats so no issues there.

Keywords were entered for all of the pages on the site but it doesn't seem to be working.

If it is at all important, the site was built through GoDaddy.

Masha'Allah brother, JazakAllahkhayran, it is very helpful in locating articles & step-by-step instructions.

Being who I am, I become overwhelmed with the sheer number of related articles so Insha'Allah members will be kind enough to walk me through helpful steps.

@ $3.99/month CAD is it worth just getting SEO and not have to worry about it? I was hoping there would be some 'free' solutionns. Feedback would be appreciated.

W-Salam,

The days of designing websites are long gone. These days you use a content management system such as Joomla or wordpress or Drupal, install it. Then you purchase a good template e.g. from Rockettheme and all the SEO is built in.

Sellers will still dupe you into buying a conventional site (because it makes them money) and you ask (they sell).

Simplest option for you is to get a wordpres blog and convert it into a website and everything is built in.

JazakAllah khayran brother.

Already have a website (used a template) and it has been up for a while now, but went with a very basic package that doesn't include SEO. Have the option to add it now but am exploring alternatives.

Assalaamo 'Alaykum

If you have the time I would recommend spending an hour or so going through

moz. com / beginners-guide-to-seo

It is the definitive guide to SEO and should In Shaa Allah explain what's involved

@ brother muadh - Insha'Allah I will check later today & reply then. I believe the template allows me to enter html

@ brother adnanc - JazakAllah khayran for the link - it is much more thorough than the 'training hub' @GD... But then again, why make it easier for people like me when they are trying to sell a product that does what is wanted. Insha'Allah I will read through the article - page 1 and already the paid SEO or Google AdWords are highlighted as the best options.

I don't follow? You either have something like Joomla/Wordpress/Drupal or you don't?

I used a template through GD website builder. I can't recall if it was a WordPress template or not (that option was available). I'm still not used to the stupid smart phone - tried to access the info but can't. Will check on laptop later insja' Allah.
