Went for a small get together ... Heard a lady tell other ladies around there is no such authentic hadith which talks about ramzan being divided into three ashras (blessing, forgiveness and free from hell).. I told her there is a hadith so she asked me where and in which hadith (apart from fazail e amal) ...

Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) mentioned:
“and it (Ramadān) is such a month, the first ten days are the days of mercy, the middle ten days are the days of forgiveness and the last ten days are the days in which many are emancipated from the fire of Jahannam”.
(Mishkāt, Vol.1, Pg.173, Deoband)

Asslamo Allaikum Aapa,

This Hadeeth is indeed slightly weak as mentioned by Shaykhul-Hadeeth (Maulana) Zakariyya Kandhalwi (RA) but the weakness is not strong enough to discard narrating and mentioning it. Despite the weakness it can be mentioned in Fadail-e-Amaal as per the rule of Scholars of Hadeeth and this matter has been discussed in detail with evidence here.

At best the sensible approach would be to:

  1. To mention the Hadeeth
  2. To mention that its weak

Shaykhul-Hadeeth (Maulana) Zakariyya Kandhalwi (RA) inline with the great Scholrs of Hadeeth regularly does that throughout his works.

The Ahl-e-Hadeeth and Madkhalees are notorious for too extreme in this regard versus we follow the way of the Scholars of the Hadeeth.

Jazakullah Khairun
