After taking his seat, one of the Christians mischievously raised the issue of the false accusation made against 'Aa'isha as-Siddeeqa رضي الله عنها, "What is the story what is narrated about 'Aa'isha, the wife of your Prophet?" The judge answered, "Two righteous women were falsely accused of adultery: Maryam عليها السلام and 'Aa'isha رضي الله عنها. As for Maryam عليها السلام, she appeared carrying a child while having no husband, while 'Aa'isha رضي الله عنها did not have a child, but had a husband." His explanation pointed to the fact that the innocence of 'Aa'isha رضي الله عنها is a lot clearer and easier to prove than that of Maryam عليها السلام. The Christians were completely dumbfounded with the reply. [Minhaj as-Sunnah an-Nabawiyya, vol 2, p 56]
