How long can a husband stay away from his wife?

How long can a husband stay away from his wife?

Many husbands leave their wives for long periods due to working abroad or going in the path of Allah or Jamaat.

Some spend years working providing for the family and they are happy with that and give each other consent.

However, we see some people leaving home for 4 months or maybe more, even one year. It's not in all cases that the wife is happy with the separation and in some instances, the wife gets told instead of being asked for such a lengthy leave from home. The husband enforces the leave as an order and leaves for 4 months and then occasionally stays on while longer.

What is the Shari' ruling and time the husband can let his wife feel alone, prone to fitnah and zinah?


Answers from Qur'an and Sunnah please including books of Fiqh with references.

No need to state "Answers from Qur'an and Sunnah please including books of Fiqh with references." - this is a habit and practice of the Salafi sect/Ahl-e-hadeet

Only written works and answers from Ulamaa is permitted in this section.

Jzk, so if the wife is not happy, and he leaves her and goes in Jamaat for 4 months, he ain't really doing her justice. If he went for 4 months and decided to add on additional days to join with another Jamaat then he's doing dhulm on his wife right?
