Quote:
According to the Heinz Web site (under “Heinz Products”) “Heinz ketchup has never contained any animal products.” The site goes on to say that “the FDA has set a standard of identity for ketchup that does not permit the use of any animal products. Any deviation from this standard of identity would mean that the product could no longer be called ketchup [or be] sold legally under the name ketchup.”

JazakAllah brother

I heard about eNumbers that reveals about its contents being halal or not.

The heinz i checked has 625g e

I other day checked online abt e numbers. 625 falls into the category of mushbooh or something, means doubtful. I didn’t find the link later on. Not sure if it was for all products or what.

I saw this site says its halak. Could u plz tell me is this reliable source? Thanks

Is it E625 or 625g e (grams - estimate)

Quote:

E-number E625
Name Magnesium diglutamate
Function Flavour enhancer.
Foods May be used in any food.
Description Derived from a naturally-occuring amino acid. Helps to bring out the flavours of many foods.

Mentioned as Halal on SANHA

if the e is not in the ingredients, but next to the weight, i.e. 625g e, then this means an estimate

For Halal food guides we would recommend using www.foodguide.org.uk/ as well as http://www.sanha.co.za

Bring on Brexit!

  1. 625 grams is weight
  2. "e" means quantité estimée which is a EU directive meaning that it is approximately 625 grams
  3. After Brexit and in a few years you will not see it because it is ridiculous!

If I was to lift 10 bottles in a bag for example, I would need to know how heavy it was instead of quantity in liquid form (i.e. ml)

Good point. As milk has short life, I would by fresh as and when needed.

But since I'm being cornered :) ketchup is actually a soft solid hence the weight
