This post has been reported. It could be due to breaking rules or something as simple as bad use of bbcodes which breaks the page format. We will attend to this soon.

If we don't spend on Maktab, then, when these children grow and deviate, we may have to spend millions to bring them back.

Molana Ali Mian Nadvi RA said "giving deeni education to children and spending on that is more important than spending on their health, secular education etc."

In India a new scientifically evolved web of maktabs have come up. This has backing of tablighi elders, every month mashwarah takes place for these maktabs, karguzaris are heard. All maktabs universally controlled by core group they are available in many sub continent migrants countries and all major towns and cities of India. It has it defined syllabus, spread over few years, the teachers are taught on how to follow these syllabus. If the family shifts, child need not restart again, he has to continue where he had left. Periodic tests, examinations to get promoted are part of system. And many more benefits. Our elders specially encourage masjid sathees to establish these maktabs in isolated or very thinly populated muslim population. Pay the rent and ustads from their own pockets.

I say, we missed this maktab system badly when we were very young.

In Shahnama-e-Islam of Hafeez Jalandhri there is a chapter on Masjid and Maktab which always brings tears to my eyes. I don't know why parents ruin their own children by sending them to secular schools.

I would ask this question again as I am dumb! How to convince your wife that maktab education is better than secular schools?

Can the poem you posted do the magic?

Maualana Ali Mian Nadvi RA:
Mere bhaion aur doston,
Eh aap samajh lein ke eis waqt ka sab se aham masalah hai jis ka aap ko khuda ke saamne jawab dena hoga aur who zamana itna dur naheen, hamein dar hai ke ham apni aankhoen se na dekh lein ke hamare bache sab kutchh jaante hain, laikin Allah aur rasul ko naheen pahchante aur kalmah tak se naa aashna hain, aur aagay ki bath ke huzoor ke walid o walidah ka naam kya thha, Fatima aur khadijah kaun thheen, eis kayenath ka malik kaun hai, qabr, hasher, aakhirat naheen jaante.
Mujhe saaray bache azeezz hain. Aur main saaf kahta hoon ke bache ka beemaar hona, aur uski jismani takleef, aur shadeed tareen khatarnak marz mein mubtala hona, ke musalmaan ke hosh udaa de; eh eithna khatrknak naheen hai jitna uska imaani taur per bimaar hona hai, ke woh islam ki buniyadein bhi naheen jaanta

This is why I insist so much on khilafah and these people don't understand. This ideological war and confusion has destroyed homes and families. Anyway, jazak Allah for your contribution.

My humble suggestion is not to insist upon this topic too much in front of her for now. Words are not as effective as seeing things for yourself. Take her out in mastooraat jamaat a couple of times, let her interact with other religiously inclined women. Let her see how they behave, carry themselves and perhaps some of them can even tell her how they are raising their kids to be good Muslims. InshaAllah that will open her mind to the realities of a good Islamic education for kids.

Sahabah never took their mastoorath in jamaath.

There was no weekly ijtema of sahabiath, sahabiath never gave bayan.

Ladies can travel to makkah and madinah for haj only.
