Is it permissible for siblings to sleep with each other?
Answer
(
Fatwa: 1452/1367=D/1429)
We have been ordered by Hadith to separate the beds of boys and girls when they reach ten of their age. Therefore, it is unlawful to make the brothers and sisters of ten years or more sleep on single bed together.

Tell your children is not gender specific. Especially in this day and age where young children are taught about gay and lesbian relationships (even in Pakistan, Astagfirullah)
[quote]Zakariyya al-Ansaari (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Separating them in their beds may be done in two ways: if each child has his own bed, or if they are in one bed but separated and not touching one another. We should be content with the second meaning, because there is no evidence for interpreting the hadeeth according to the first meaning on its own. Al-Zarkashi said: Interpreting it on that basis is the apparent meaning; indeed it is the correct meaning because of the first hadeeth, “and separate their beds.†And it is also supported by the reason behind it, which is the fear of wrong action. End quote from Asna al-Mataalib (3/113).
And it says in Kashshaaf al-Qinaa’ (5/18): When siblings reach the age of 10 years, whether they are males or females, or females and males, their guardian should separate them in their beds, so he should give each one of them a bed of his own, because the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) said: “And separate them in their bedsâ€, i.e., when they have been sleeping dressed lightly as it says in al-Mustaw’ab wa’l-Ri’aayah. End quote.’’
Of course, if one can afford it and have the space, then seperate them, otherwise there must be a good barrier in between them.

Saaiduna Abu Said Khudri Radiallahu Anhu, reported from his father: The Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said: “A man should not see the private parts of another man, and a woman should not see the private parts of another woman, and a man should not lie with another man under one covering, and a woman should not lie with another woman under one covering†(Sunan Abu Dawud p.201 v.2, Sahih Muslim and Musnad Ahmad)
The explanation of the aforementioned hadith is that a man is not allowed to sleep with another man or a woman is not allowed to sleep with another woman under one sheet or duvet without a barrier, i.e. both being naked. If however, they are covered and are sleeping under one duvet then it will be permissible, althoughit is preferable to refrain from due to the danger of mischief and temptation. (Durr Mandhuud p.119 v.6)
The aforementioned ruling is applicable whether the two women are sisters or not.
