Child birth adhaan and bath?

Salam

The general understanding is when a baby is born you give adhaan in one ear and the iqaamah in the other.


Now I'm being told that you can't give adhan before actually giving bath/ghusl to the baby, and according to possible folklore it could be heavy on the baby too.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Interesting.

I thought the first thing the baby hears is the Adhan, not "pass me the soap" :) Allahu alum.

The nurses here tend to wipe down the baby anyway lol, yeah I know that won't constitute a ghusl though.

I thought the same as you.. So now want to get to the bottom of this.
