I'd love to read this narration where Rasulullah (SAW) said this to the Companions.

It is quoted from Tafsir Durr al-Manthur by Imam Suyuti (RA), full text as follows:

islamweb.net/ar/library/index.php?page=bookcontents&I...

umrah is like performing nafl salah,or nafl fasting you can perform as it as often as you want, there is no restriction of how often you can do it providing it doesnt compromise your furdh, it's mainly advisory unless you follow the maliki madhab

i find it tough to believe how umrah can be ritualistic because you have to spend at least a grand to go...sure what the ppl get up to prior and after with the selfies and excess shopping questions the quality of their sincerity but no doubt its their love for harmain which draws them

He صلَّى الله عليه وسلَّم said: “Keep on following hajj with `umra, and `umra with hajj, for they wipe out poverty and sins as the bellows removes the dross of iron, gold and silver, and an accepted hajj brings no less a reward than Paradise

Reported by At-Tirmidhi in the chapter of “hajj”, concerning the reward of performing hajj and `umra (hadith 810), An-Nassâ'i in the chapter of “hajj”, concerning keeping on following hajj with `umra and `umra with hajj (hadith 2631), Ibn Hibbân in his “Sahîh” (hadith 3693), Ahmad (hadith 3660) and Al-Bazzâr in his “Musnad” (hadith 1722), from the hadith `Abd Allâh Ibn Mass`ûd رضي الله عنه. The hadith is authenticated by Ahmad Shâkir in his recension to “Musnad of Ahmad” (5/244). Al-Albâni considered it as Hassan (good) in “As-Silsila As-Sahîha” (3/197) and Muqbil Ibn Hâdi Al-Wâdi`i in “As-Sahîh Al-Musnad” (hadith 897)

Ali رضی الله عنه narrated that :
The Messenger of Allah صلی الله عليه وسلم said: "Whoever has the provisions and the means to convey him to Allah's House and he does not perform Hajj, then it does not matter if he dies as a Jew or a Christian. That is because Allah said in His Book: 'And Hajj to the House is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, for whomever is able to bear the journey.'

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 812

it is quoted from Ihya Uloom Vol.3 in "Saviours of Islamic spirit pg 150 vol.1"

There are many amongst the men of substance who are too liberal in spending their wealth on the performance of Hajj. They set out for the pilgrimage regularly year after year as if they have none hungry or in want amongst their neighbors. Hz Abdullah ibn Masud truly said that "during the later times quite a large number of persons would perform the Hjj unnecessarily, simply because they would find it easy to travel and would have enough to spend, but they would return from the Hajj without any recompense for they would not help their neighbors whom they find in trouble".

exactly so as long as you're thinking of the Ummah and donating in your means to the needy then you'd come under the premise of the Hadith where the prophet saw clearly said keep performing Umrah as it erases sins

The purpose of my earlier post is to motivate our brothers who do nafl haj or umrah to keep an eye on their surroundings. Help the needy. A few hundreds or thousand can bring back smiles in many families. You are going to haramain because you are pious. And we can expect charity from pious people like you. We can't expect anything from a Miser, selfish Capitalist.
