Narrated by Ibn Abbas.
While I was standing amongst the people who were invoking Allah for Umar bin Al-Khattab who was lying (dead) on his bed, a man behind me rested his elbows on my shoulders and said:
'(O Umar!) May Allah bestow His Mercy on you. I always hoped that Allah will keep you with your two companions, for I often heard Allah's Messenger (sallahu alyhi wa salam) saying, ' I, Abu Bakr and Umar were (somewhere). I, Abu Bakr and Umar set out.' So I hoped that Allah will keep you with both of them.'
I turned back to see the speaker was Ali bin Abi Talib.
"Whoever draws near to Allah during Ramadan with a single characteristics of voluntary goodness, he is like whoever performs an obligatory act. & whoever performs an obligatory act during it, he is like whoever performed seventy obligatory acts in other times"

Amr bin Awf رضي الله عنه relates that Rasulullah said :
"I do not fear poverty for you (the Ummah) but what I really fear is that the worldly wealth may be increased for you as it was increased for those before you. Hence you will compete with one another for the world just as those before you competed with one another for it. It will then destroy you just as it destroyed them" (Sahih Bukhari).
