Saudi Arabia Announces Ramadhan & Eid dates

Respected brothers, sisters and scholars in Islam,

Assalamu Alaykum wa-Rahmatullahi wa-Barakatuh.

On Saturday, 18 August 2012 (29 Ramadan 1433 AH) many people from throughout UK have attempted to sight the crescent moon (Hilal) of Ramadan after sunset. None of the groups were able to sight the Hilal, even though many places had clear sky conditions.

However, we have received reliable sighting reports (Muhaqaq-Ruyat-Basari) from Jamiat-e-Ulama South Africa of positive sightings from many places.

Therefore, the Wifaq/Batley Ulama have decided that the month of Ramadan 1433 AH will have 29 days and the month of Shawwal 1433 AH will start from (and Eid-ul-Fitr will be on) Sunday 19 August 2012, Insha-Allah.

Note that Saudi Arabia did not sight the Hilal, but decided Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Sunday 19 August 2012, based on 30-days completion of the month.

Hadhrat Shaykh (Maulana) Muhammad Hasan Tai (Damat Barakatuhum) emphasis on respecting the Shuyukh

Hadhrat Shaykh (Damat Barakatuhum) mentioned "One must not lesson the respect for (Hadhrat) Maulana Yusuf Motala Saheb (Damat Barakatuhum) and (Hadhrat) Hafiz Patel Saheb (Damat Barakatuhum) because they follow Saudi Arabia for moon sighting, who follow the Umm al Qura calender which is based on the birth of the moon and not the Hilal (crescent).They are Buzrug's, so one must always respect them.
Regarding them following Saudi Arabia for moon sighting,according to my understanding,it's probably there Ijtihadi error,Allah Ta'ala knows best."

Disrespect towards any of our elders will not be tolerated here inshaAllah. If anyone feels there was any disrespect in any post, please let me know via PM or email and i will check it. sometimes it may be indirect and i miss itbut as far as i know, there was no disrespect.

Alhumdulillah, we love our respected ulama, be they of a different Madhab or the same Madhab.

I think as per normal, the guest was making a general comment to keep us on track, Alhumdulillah.

How come Pakistan India and Bangladesh doing EID on Monday. They keeping 30. I thought they don't follow saudi

They sight the moon as advised in Ahadeeth. They do not follow Saudi as Ru'yat is possible. When they gather on Masaajid rooftops with mostly children in excitement, it's an amazing feeling which unfortunately we're deprived of here in UK

Someone told me that saudi announced that they made a mistake last Eid ul Fitr and it was on peace tv or something so everyone who follows them has to keep a qadha fast. Is this true?

There were rumor of both stories saying Saudi made announcements and also that Saudi had denied making such announcements.

completely and utterely false though no idea if the reports circulated at the time  (and there were numerous) was also promogulated via Pease TV.

Please note, the guest has said Peace tv "or something" implying that it could've been someone else.

There are plenty of Islamic channels filled with fitna of some sort.

So let me ask the question, so can anyone claim Saudi got it wrong this year?

They couldn't spot the moon , so they fasted for 30 days, that's sunnat and correct right??

Or is everyone still blinded by the statement "following Saudi"

There's nothing wrong with the umm al qura calendar, because hajj and Ramadan are "not set in stone" they are changed based on the sightings of the moOn.

If any one claIms that follow the umm al qura is wrong then they need to get with it and understand the special case applied to the two months.

The calendar is there to help business trade and economics. We use the KUFFAR gregorian calendar, they use the MUSLIM calendar. I don't see a problem?..??.!.?.!.????
