This water melon caught us by surprise. My mum bought it from a local grocery store, when questioned about it, they had no idea why it was yellow.

We had to Google it before eating it, otherwise it was destined for the waste bin :(

We shared some with neighbours, hope they liked it too.

Tastes just like a normal watermelon and not as described by Google :(

Offering Salah on a normally very busy platform on the London underground station during the Covid19 pandemic. (used a pillow case as the prayer mat)

For many of us who travel to work find it a bit difficult to offer Salah on time especially during the colder days.

Work finishes before Maghrib and many of us are still travelling home until Esha.

I'm glad this brother made it for Salah even though he was about 45 minutes late.

Does it always get that hot in London? Thirty eight Celsius is brutal. That's a hundred Fahrenheit for our American readers.

We hardly get a good summer. We get happy when it's 23 degrees.

These hot snaps are becoming regular though, as in, every year we get a few days of good heat followed by thunder storms. It didn't rain yesterday, so still waiting for that.

We have weird spells of weather. It will be very hot for a couple of days, and then the temperature drops to about 16 to 17 degrees for a few days and then rises back to the 20s.

Saudi snaps up iPhone photography award

arab.news/5eqvz

Talib Al-Marri picked up third place in the travel category with an image titled “The Muslim’s heart”

25 July 2021

DUBAI: With an image of Islam’s most sacred site, a Saudi photographer has captured an award for images taken on iPhones.

Talib Al-Marri picked up third place in the travel category with an image titled “The Muslim’s heart.”

He was competing alongside participants from over 140 countries at the independent 2021 iPhone Photography Awards, which showcases the best photos taken using the mobile phone around the world.

“This image is dear to my heart, as it is the reason why I won the award, and at the same time, it is the image of the Great Mosque of Makkah, the Kaaba.”

He added: “The moment the photo was taken, the sanctuary was full of pilgrims circumambulating the Kaaba and I thought about using the slow motion feature to reflect the movements so viewers of the image would feel the crowd around the Kaaba and have the impression of moving within the image.”

Al-Marri said that it was an “indescribably beautiful feeling” to participate in the awards for the first time and win.

“I consider this a great achievement and dedicate it to my country, my family and, of course, myself.”

My son was told to design a magic wand in school (age 6) so he came home and told me that today they had to do something haram :)

Anyway, all the students did their work and apparently he did the best design of all and impressed his teacher and some of his classmates.

Like father like son?
I wasn't sure if I should have posted this in the gadget thread, but here you go.

He designed a HTC wand because he said it was the best and strongest phone from all the phones he's had (okay, so I give him old working phones to keep and to play games with)

Of all the phones he has, blackberry, blackberry Z, Huawei, HTC Desire, HTC One M9, iPhone 7. He opted for his HTC One because of its design and build. Its his favourite phone of all.

His teacher and a few of his class mates recognised it immediately because they (or their parents) also had the HTC phones.

:)
