Personally, I would ask for the continuation of Maghrib and Jummah, firstly throughout the Lockdown and then ask for it to be made permanent and if not Maghrib, then at least Jummah Salah.

Anything would be a bonus.

But I guess they will have to put the volume down a bit as it was very loud and we will need to consider the neighbours after Ramadhan.

In fact, believe it or not, people even do call to prayer comparison ranging from the Adhan to the Jewish call to the Christian call etc etc and no prizes for guessing who the non Muslims choose :)

Just like everyone else here, I would love to hear the adhan called out 5 times a day. But I wouldn't want to hear daily church bells or Hindu chanting etc. In the same way I doubt most non Muslims would want to hear the adhan, especially at fajr and isha time.

We live as a tiny minority in a non muslim secular country. If we want to hear the adhan then I think it should be a collective decision involving the whole community who would be affected by it. Anything less would be selfish.

Imagine if your local Hindu temple started chanting mantras and ringing bells in your neighbourhood. But if we give the adhan without taking the wider community into consideration then what's to stop them from doing the same?

How about an alternative? Maybe an app that automatically connects to the closest masjid which transmits the 5 times adhan to your phone? I know it's not the same, but it's a compromise.

I have a Hindu temple very close to me. I wouldn't want to hear them chanting mushrik mantras to their monkey and elephant false gods. I used to hear it in India and I felt disgusted by it. I wouldn't want to expose myself and my family to that kind of environment. But if we impose ourselves on them, then they have a right to impose themselves on us.

Looking on the bright side of things:

Look at the schools.

Many people complain about halal food. They complain about the fact that they can't get meat suitable for Sikhs (halal meat is haram for them).
But schools offer Halal or normal.

Hospitals only cater for halal and kosher. It's clear whose in the minority :)

On a lighter note:
let's have the halal food and adhan at reasonable hours, the rest can go where they are destined to go - Jahannam ;)

All I'm saying is when it comes to public adhan we have to take the wider community into consideration and involve them in the decision process. It's not something we should be imposing on others without their consent. If the same was done against us then we wouldn't like it, so we shouldn't just expect others to like it either.

Of course, if it's a muslim country then it's a different matter. The constitution should be based on Islam alone and should operate on a like it or lump it policy. If you don't like it then you are free to leave.
