Surah (8) Anfal, Verse 60
I have taken the translations from the corpus.quran.com site.
Quote:
Sahih International: And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allah knows. And whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.
Quote:
Pickthall: Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others beside them whom ye know not. Allah knoweth them. Whatsoever ye spend in the way of Allah it will be repaid to you in full, and ye will not be wronged.
Quote:
Yusuf Ali: Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.
Quote:
Shakir: And prepare against them what force you can and horses tied at the frontier, to frighten thereby the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them, whom you do not know (but) Allah knows them; and whatever thing you will spend in Allah's way, it will be paid back to you fully and you shall not be dealt with unjustly.
Quote:
Muhammad Sarwar: Mobilize your (defensive) force as much as you can to frighten the enemies of God and your own enemies. This also will frighten those who are behind them whom you do not know but God knows well. Whatever you spend for the cause of God, He will give you sufficient recompense with due justice.
Quote:
Mohsin Khan: And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not know but whom Allah does know. And whatever you shall spend in the Cause of Allah shall be repaid unto you, and you shall not be treated unjustly.
Quote:
Arberry: Make ready for them whatever force and strings of horses you can, to terrify thereby the enemy of God and your enemy, and others besides them that you know not; God knows them. And whatsoever you expend in the way of God shall be repaid you in full; you will not be wronged.
Quote:
Sahih International: ... you may terrify ...
Pickthall: ... ye may dismay ...
Yusuf Ali: ... to strike terror ...
Shakir: ... to frighten thereby ...
Muhammad Sarwar: ... you can to frighten ....
Mohsin Khan: ...to threaten ...

Quote:
Turhiboona: you (plural) scare/ you instill awe
Note: the root is R-H-B and it means fear mixed with admiration and so forth, closer to being in awe of something. TURHIBOON is an action that is happening or will be happening. It means the action of making the object (AAaDUWWA ALLAHI= enemy of Allah) fear or being in awe is happening or will be happening by the subject (second person plural).
There is an India movie called Prahaar : The Final Assault (writing from passe memory). There the protagonist, Major Chauhan played by Nana Patekar, is the Indian Army officer assigned to train the elite commando units. Among the items for commando training he mentions that the candidates will also be taught to do looting.
Now that is army training. I suppose the armies are trained the world over to do similar things.
And their armies go much farther in their doings.
The internet data says that about twenty former army service men commit suicide in US everyday.
This is a giant number by any standards.
Suppose we try to guess the reasons behind this calamity. My gues would be that these retired soldiers are killing themselves because of their past deeds.
US army trained them. Then motivated them. Then they deployed them, in the most recent phase in the Muslim countries.
And gave them opportunity and freedom to indulge in atrocities on Muslims. Killing, raping women and killing children. Sometimes they kill the Mooj (the Mujahideen) but sometime they kill the Haji (the civilian).
And then they are relieved from service. To live with the after math of their actions. And their conscience.
And the bastards can not deal with that.
So in their army manuals they have brutal training and they indulge in liberties beyond that and then they kill themselves.
The Noble Quran too is a war manual. Its injunctions are so clean, as far as war goes.
And yet it is Muslims who are the bad guys and it is Islam that is the bad ideology.

I have a few more remarks to make, that is why I started this post. I'll complete the argument later on.
