In reference to the tweet/offer:
Quote:
Just got contacted by a graduate of Darul-uloom Bury who has offered me £1000 to add to my offer.

He doesn't wish to make his name public but he is willing to put up the money, insha'Allah

This is quite a fitna, and thus a mess !

Tell me what you guys think, but I think, like halal, we are confronted to words of (a) muslim(s) versus fact-checking & open-available data, and it seems both positions are ok from fiqh, what do you say ?

Im no expert in this field but unless there is reliable mass sighting i won't dismiss data. If for example Saudi can proof beyond doubt or there were 100s who saw hilal yday il accept it and but data down but if its just few random laymen and data sayin impossible its not fitnah to reject.

If i tell u i do fajr 10am as its dark outside ur not gana say fine i belive u despite data saying sunrise is 4.46 (east London).

Alhamdulillah there were numerous sightings today and my friends who are not part of wifaqul ulama also saw it in wstow and forest gate. I am in Luton but couldn't see it.

Ps would be good if someone from wifaqul could hav discussion /debate with shaykh haitham on this matter. He released a video today and despite being a fan of his i disagreed with all his points except laymen are not accountable and if witnesses come forth then according to some fuqaha its sinful to refuse their testimony

We had strategically selected locations covering close to 1000 miles and then turned to Allah Ta’ala for assistance. It rained from Manchester onwards, heavy clouds descended in West-Midlands and it was cloudy in Sussex but the locations around London cleared at the right time. This is the second year in a row for this initiative and Allah Ta’ala has granted success this year as well. This should sufficiently answer those who say that the Moon cannot be sighted in Britain.

Salam

If you time time later in the week could you respond to video made by shaykh haitham. He wasn't attack WifaqulUlama or anything but i think points he made were not strong yet most follow it such as unity purposes and all this data about moon not being visible is just theory not always what happens in practice

وعليكم السلام

We don't respond to anyone (by name) and don't engage in refutations. We work with many organizations across the Board and you saw the results with your own eyes last Ramadhan/Shawwal and this Ramadhan/Shawwal.

The issue was settled over 1400 years ago.

Sayyidina Abu Huraira (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) made a mention of the new moon and (in this connection) said: Observe fast when you see it (the new moon) and break fast when you see it (the new moon of Shawwal), but when (the actual position of the month is) concealed from you (on account of cloudy sky), then count thirty days. [Muslim]

If someone cannot grasp this narration and assist in implementing it, not much can be done.

However Mufti Amjad has already answered the crux of Shaykh Haitham al-Haddad's arguments here:
