It should be noted that there is disagreement amongst Ulama on the matter of digital photography. Some of them are inclined towards its permissibility while others are inclined towards impermissibility. In our opinion, there is some scope (of permissibility) of using and watching digital photography.
It is therefore our opinion that there is some latitude in watching and reselling the (Turkish Drama) entitled “Diriliş: Ertuğrul” because this drama highlights (aspects of) Islamic history, culture and heritage which is a need of our times.
However, since this drama also has women characters, looking at women should be avoided. If it is difficult for a person to avoid looking at women then it will not be permissible for the person to look at this dramabecause of the Fiqh principle “avoidance of harm takes precedence overperceived benefit”. Thus if by watching the drama the guarding of the gaze iscompromised then it would be obligatory to avoid the sin and it will not be permissibleto watch this drama.
[24:30] Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.
Personal clarification: I genuinely hope that this Fatwa is FAKE. I wholeheartedly disagree with the Fatwa, its reason, it's rationale and background. I translated it for English speaking Muslims to read, understand, ponder and then make up their minds. It is part of my quest to try to understand the FACTS before disagreeing, everyone has the right to disagree but disagree after understanding an issue!
It is available on Pakistani TV dubbed in Urdu and many other Turkish Dramas so Pakistanees are well aware of it.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
