I fail to see how Hilary Clinton would have been any different to Muslims looking at her track record as the senator and secretary of state in the last 15 years.

Shaykh Joe Bedford

As #election2016 draws to a close and we as a nation face a #Trump presidency, I just want to say this to all my Muslim friends:

Stop acting like this is the end of the world. Congress, all the related laws, and business as usual in the US is the same and will be the same for the next 2 years. Yes the tone will change, but that's no reason to live in fear.

We must stop acting like every single person who voted for Trump is a racist bigot who personally hates you.

Many people are voting for one reason and one reason only: jobs.

Wisconsin and Michigan went to Trump. His rust belt strategy worked and this sends a message to America as a whole.

No one gives a fluffy teddy bear without eyes if the President knows Beyonce.
They'll tolerate a man's personal immorality.
They'll give a pass to nascent (and at times blatant) racism.
When they don't have money to pay the bills, they'll put up with a lot.

You might not like it and it may not be good or right, but it's reality.

Racist discourse will become more normalized, I don't deny that. That's a fact. Hell, KKK leaders are celebrating. You need to know your rights, protect yourself, and remain vigilant. Don't take that lightly.

But is it foolish to paint this election in ONLY terms of racism and bigotry. The general aspiration to do and say racist things publicly is not what won the election for Trump or lost it for Clinton in the Rust Belt. Had Clinton given even a slight nod to jobs in the most economically abject areas of America she would have had it in the bag.

One of the Prophet's characteristics was "it distresses him to see you troubled..." (Quran 9:129) If you truly have concern for the people, ask what you're prepared to do to change people's circumstances before you try to change people's minds.

My advice: Stop waiting for what the some political party will do for you, and start doing for self. Create businesses and communities that generate meaningful lives not just for yourselves, but for those around you as well.

Now is the time for work.

"Be mindful of God, and seek beautifully."*

One of my favorite old sayings: When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

And: you don't win because you punch the hardest. It's that you can get hit and keep getting back up (Rocky).
Qawi = able to do the heavy lifting.
Mateen = able to take a hit.

--

The media is so biased towards it's liberal viewpoint that their blind spot was this ridiculously big.

--

The open enemy is less harmful than the hidden one (Malcolm X). Yes, we can live freely under the liberals, but many of us are also losing their foundations in the face of a very attractive but godless 'tolerance' agenda

--

Divine tests come to examine our trust in Allah. "Do people think they can claim faith then not be tested?" The question is: will we view the matter as a divine test, the reaction to which must be sabr (patience)? When was the last time you heard: Allah does not change the situation of a people until they change what is in themselves."

--

Never believe a poll again.

--

Every time new media was invented, someone who understood it well came out of nowhere and swept.

FDR was the radio president.
JFK was the TV president.
Obama was the internet president (fundraising).
Trump was the reality TV president.
In realty TV, the villain gets the most attention.

--

It's weird. I've watched half a dozen Game 7 upsets. They all had that same eerie, quiet feeling at the beginning. That something isn't right. Same feeling last night. Around 8pm you could just sense it. By 10:30 the route was on.

--

They're all saying this election redrew the red state vs blue state lines. The same talk as 2008. Don't they get it? It's charismatic individuals who win, not parties.

--

First Brexit, now this...not everyone's buying into neo-liberalism.

--

Media and pop culture make you think the country is 50% minority. The country is still 77% white. Going after the discontented white voter turned out to be a slam dunk strategy.

--

No pity for Hillary and her party. They robbed Bernie and rigged the primary. She shouldn't have been in the general election in the first place.

--

It's gonna be a crazy ride. Adjust quickly and search for the wisdom behind it. Your not liking something doesn't meant there's no wisdom behind it. As soon as you find that wisdom, you start profiting.

Trump is far better for muslims than clinton. Firstly half the rubbish he said he will do he cant get done despite having house of representivies and senate on his side

Secondly muslims in west need a kick up the arse and a wake up call. We got way to comfortbale and complacent and dunyafied. If and when things get hard people tend to work together and put aside petty differences

Thirdly if trump does turn out to be to muslims what hiter was to jews hopefully our pathetic leaders will grow a pair and realise they are not our awaliya. Its hard to maintain a dog/master relationship if the master doent want to keep the dog. Had killary won all the despot apostate leaders would hav continued to openly and happily give their bayah and jizya to the white house.

Finally we should always look for positives in all situations. He is not the worse thing to happen to us.

Bismillah

Ever since Donald Trump began his election campaign, I have been observing with fascination the reaction of the muslim community in America. The positive aspect is that it has really galvanised the Muslim community in America, many of the educated Muslims with high level of academic accomplishments have got involved in social and political activism.

The negative aspect is many of these individuals are limited in their Islamic knowledge and have decided the best way forward politically is to build collective strength by forming alliances with some far left radical groups, Occupy wall Street movement, anarchists, femininsts, the Homosexual rights lobby, the pro-choice abortion lobby etc.... These new muslim activists are openly defending the positions of these movements most of which are contrary to Islam, also have seen the rise of the "Islamic feminist movement."

Some of these activists have gotten a large following on social Media, and regular press, Tv, radio coverage... These individuals and their modernists views could be a major fitnah for the future, which impacts and influences an entire generation on both sides of the Atlantic.

Anyway here is facebook post by Imam Zaid Shakir.

Imam Zaid Shakir

As Salaam Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,

America today is no different than it was yesterday. The sun will shine, the birds will chirp and the clouds will still roll across the sky. We need to move beyond the cycle of panicked reactions to crises, real or perceived, and begin working more systematically to address issues concerning us and our fellow citizens.

Although the prospect of the Alt Right entering the mainstream poses clear challenges for Muslims and racial minorities in this country, every swing state Trump won yesterday was won by Obama in 2008 so it is not simply racist angst at work here. People are insecure and unsettled and Muslims should begin working to position ourselves to be a voice of reason, comfort and direction when Trump fails all of the people Obama failed after his landslide victory in 2008 (most popular votes ever). He will fail them - God knows best.

As alluded to above, there is of course a dangerous racist fringe that feels it is empowered by Trump's victory. We have to attempt to mitigate its attractiveness by working with others to develop a language of political discourse that creates the psychological space for those desiring a change to actually change in real, deep and perceptible ways. The radical left cannot provide us with that language. Far too many Muslims have adopted the language and politics of the radical left in our efforts to advance the interests of our community. We need to begin speaking confidently in the language that has helped to forge a tradition that has brought more disparate racial, ethnic and national groups together than any force in history. If not now, when? If not us, who?
In conclusion, perhaps the shock so many are dealing with will prove beneficial. There is a higher plan and logic governing these events. Do not despair, work hard and be patient. The passing days will reveal to us realities we are currently ignorant of.
May Allah bless, help and protect us all.

Imam Zaid Shakir

Are Muslim's overreacting to Donald Trump's win?

The way I see it, the non-Muslim's will react like the way they reacted after 911. Instead of hurting the religion, thousands, if not, millions came to Islam after looking into something they found to be their enemy. It became their way of life.

InshaAllah, many more will look into to the lies against Islam, and InshaAllah, will come closer to the truth and closer to Allah.

Islam wasn't spread by the sword, neither does it need to be so now. Allah will let the enemy take Islam to the faithful.

Donald Trump

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh

Wifaqul Ulama like all fellow Muslims is disappointed regarding the rise and subsequent win of Donald Trump in America. However, we would like to remind our fellow Brothers and Sisters that it is Allah Ta’ala who runs the affairs of the world.

Not a leaf falls, nor a branch breaks without the express Permission of Allah Ta’ala

It is our duty as Muslims to submit to the absolute Power and Sovereignty of Allah Ta’ala

https://twitter.com/WifaqulUlama/status/796648707680780288

We also remind ourselves and all others that affairs of this world are a consequence of our actions. IF we want the world to change, we MUST change our actions for the better! *Turn to Allah Ta’ala in repentance and obedience for the affairs of the world to become positive for you.

It is also part of Islam to *strive and work for the betterment of circumstances.

Wifaqul Ulama is engaging in a long term program for Civic Engagement for British Muslims. If you think that the solution is to continuously ENGAGE with our society instead of lamenting about elections results every few years, convince your community to put aside the divisions and work for the betterment of Muslims in our country. We say to all Muslims:

The ball is firmly in your court!

We start in Croydon Mosque and Islamic Center this Saturday 12th of November, Insha'Allah.

Wifaqul Ulama is working to preserve the Sunnah, earn rewards and preserve your hereafter doing the same. Forward this message to your friends and family.

جزاك اللهُ خيرًا

Trumps only got elected a couple of days ago but there has been a massive rise in attacks against Muslims and other minorities.

Seen quite a few reports via twitter, The vast majority of attacks have been directed against Muslim Sisters in Hijab and also Black American women.
