as a community we already have the infrastructure, the finance, the experts, etc in place. we just need to be united and organised with a strong leadership.

we need to leave behind the "dawat se sub kooch hota hai / zikr aur fikr karo" mentality.

40 Years and we havnt achieved it so what makes you think we will now?

The Rot is at the Top and if people don't realise it, nothing will happen.

99% of the people follow what happens at the Top.

You take a 12 year old, put him (or her) in an environment where nothing happens for the Ummah, as a 19 year old they will also do nothing.

No matter what you say to this 19 year old it will have no affect because they will follow a set example.

Majority of our Ulama, graduate, stay on welfare and work 2-3 Hours a day in a Maktab....Where do you think they pick up this lifestyle from?

No initiative, no ambition, no goals. Just exist by teaching 2-3 Hours a day in a Madrasa

the way things are heading in the uk and europe and the speed at which changes are taking place and the way peoples attitudes are changing towards muslims, we will be forced to unite and organise or perish.

muslims will be third class citizens. life for a muslim will be difficult. muslims will be relics of a different age thats no longer accepted. it will make it easy to leave islam. people already are leaving islam. imagine what it will be like in 5-10 years time.

Muslims in UK must and need to suffer before things get better. We hav had thigs so easy that we ended up fighting arguing with each other. Look at muslims in SA. Aparthide was such that they never had luxury of being divided and worked together.

On plus side we hav organisations and personalties who are doing good work but if everyone can come under 1 umbrella and work together things will improve.

regarding the prophet sallallahualyhiwassalam wasn't there something along the lines of two of his duas regarding the ummah being accepted and the third regarding the unity not being accepted. please feel free to correct or post the correct related Hadith, would really appreciate it.

I have been biting my tongue in relation to some posts, but I feel it's better to share and be open to opinions regardless of everyones views...

- how can the ummah of our noble prophet salallahualayhiwasalam and our beloved creator be victors when they behave and write like victims?

- for a believer there is nothing but Khayr whether it's in happiness or diversity

- we point fingers at those that victimise Islam with oppression and hatred....but in the eyes of Allah subhanahuwata'aala who is oppressed and who is the Victor?

- Islam has been a source of hatred from the time of the prophet salalahualyhiwassalam yet we whine and complain, have we not learnt anything from the lives of the prophets, the sahabahs, the tabieen, the taba tabieen. what is the purpose of referring to their difficulties and hardships.

finally...the prophet salallahualayhiwassalams shoes were clogged with his blessed blood where he would be stoned by haters whilst walking, even then not a word of hatred left his lips accept 'ya Allah forgive them for they know not'

- not even pain from a thornprick will be overlooked by Allah Subhaanuhuwata'aala. Each hardship, difficulty, oppression etc will be rewarded in abundance.

our mindset needs to change we are not victims...regardless!

Staying informed, keeping in touch with latest issues, benefiting the ummah in anyway is all fine...but scaremongering, losing heart and causing despair amongst muslims is the biggest form of cowardice and hypocrisy!

i believe the dua of the prophet which u are referring to is ' may not my ummah fight each other and be united' this dua was not accepted but other two were

as for your other points i dont know whos losing heart or in despair. im upbeat as ever but that doesnt mean we should not take precautions and act accordingly. theres a fine line between having tawaqqul and being a passive muslims who just thinks dua is the answer to everything. please this is not targeted at you but a seriously pet hate of mine is when people cheery pick certain hadith and actions of sahabah. there were many times rasoolullah (saw) was forgiving and other times he retaliated. same with sahaba sometimes and situations they made sabr and got on with things and other times they took action.

reason why i initally asked what is the point of this thread was because all the stories posted where on mainstream news so didnt see point of them being thrown in my face again. just as it got me angry when i read them on bbc and other news outlets it got me angry again here. i wasnt questioning anyones intentions. if brother maudh thinks some khair can come out of this then i make dua Allah assists him

MEND already exists but people are too lazy to attend their workshops or events or get involved with them.

CAGE exists but everyone is too afraid to be associated with them.

Activists already exists but they are not from our school of thought or our hazrats have not yet praised them in their majalis for us to rally behind them.

Police seek man over Edinburgh mosque fire

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/sep/18/police-seek-man-e...

Officers treat incident at central mosque early on Sunday as hate crime and urge witnesses to come forward

A description has been released of a man police want to trace after a fire at a mosque in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh central mosque, in the Potterrow area, suffered minor fire damage to the door and the garden after an object was thrown at the building at about 2.10am on Sunday.

Officers are treating the incident as a hate crime.

The man is described as white, in his early 30s, with very short hair. He was wearing a short-sleeved black top with a white emblem on the front and dark trousers.

Before the incident, it is believed the man spoke to a group of women in George Square, near the junction with the Meadows, and these witnesses are being urged to come forward.

Police say a number of cars and vehicles are known to have driven past the mosque during the incident and anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious should call them.

DI John Kavanagh said: “Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of this incident but the consequences could have been far worse had the fire taken hold and spread.

“I would ask that anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity around the mosque, or within the Potterrow area, contacts police immediately.”

Ch Insp Mark Rennie, local area commander for south-east Edinburgh, said: “This was a despicable and reckless act which we are treating as a hate crime. We have launched a thorough investigation to identify anyone involved and anyone who believes they have information that can assist with our inquiries is urged to get in touch.”

Foysol Choudhury, chairman of the Edinburgh and Lothians regional equality council, said the organisation strongly condemned the crime as an attack against our freedom of religion and expression.

“Edinburgh cannot tolerate any action that aims to spread hate and division within its society. [The council] would like to uphold Police Scotland’s request for everyone who has any information to contact them.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or alternatively through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.

Woman has hijab pulled down in London, police looks for perpetrators

news-hl-cm.newsrep.net/h5/nrshare.html?r=3&lan=en_GB&pid=...

The London police are appealing for witnesses and information about an incident in which a woman had her hijab pulled down by two men, which is thought to have been a racially motivated attack.
The incident happened on September 28 in High Road, north London at around 7:30 pm local time. The woman was walking with a female friend, crossing the road by the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, when two men came up from behind her.
One pulled down her hijab, after which both suspects ran off towards Pelham Road.
Scotland Yard described the first attacker as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, while the other was of the same age and had a Mediterranean appearance.
“That was a shocking attack in broad daylight in the middle of a busy street,” Detective Constable Ben Cousin of the Haringey Community Safety Unit told the media. “Racially and religiously-motivated crimes will not be tolerated. I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this attack to contact police.”
The Council of Europe's commission tackling racism has noted a recent surge in xenophobic attitudes in the UK, adding that some politicians and tabloids have contributed.

Muslim woman in hijab assaulted by man who tried to pull off headscarf in central London

Muslim woman has been assaulted in central London by an “aggressive” man who tried to pull off her hijab.

The hate crime occurred in the early morning as the woman walked alone down Oxford Street.

The man approached her and repeatedly demanded she remove her headscarf. When the woman, in her 40s, refused, the man became more aggressive.

The assailant grabbed the woman's headscarf and attempted to remove it by force.

He managed to unpin the covering, but did not succeed in removing it entirely, police said in a statement.

The woman escaped without injury, and the man, who is estimated to be in his 30s, fled in the direction of Marble Arch.

The suspect, who was wearing a grey sweatshirt and light blue jeans, is described as a white man with "short black greased back hair".

He is thought to be approximately five feet five inches tall and of medium build.

Police said although she was not physically hurt, the victim was shocked and distressed by the attack.

They added that Scotland Yard are treating the incident, which occurred at 8.15am on 4 October, as an Islamophobic hate crime.

Detective Sergeant Steve Stamp of Westminster's Community Safety Unit said: “This was an unprovoked and hate filled attack in broad daylight in the middle of a busy street. The woman was targeted by this suspect purely based on what she was wearing".

The attack happened the day before a strikingly similar incident occurred in the London borough of Haringey, where a young Muslim woman was also targetted in a racially-motivated assault.

In the Haringey attack on 5 October, the woman in her 20s was walking on a busy street with a female friend near The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London.

She was approached from behind by two men who pulled down her hijab.

The assailants, both thought to be in their late 20s or early 30s, then fled the scene.

In reference to the Oxford Street assault, Mr Stamp said: "Racially and religiously motivated crimes will not be tolerated I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this attack to contact police. ”
