I am using Muadh khan's recent thread as inspiration and hope to inshallah interview Maulana yahya and ask him a few questions. He is very good with current affairs and politics mashallah and on previous occasions has been very receptive to questions etc.

I shall start my list of questions. Please feel free to send questions. I will not be transcribing answers as my urdu is pretty weak but inshallah hope to have a recording

In his talks he mostly covers social issues and how Muslims must interact as minorities etc. He is very well versed in politics and current affairs. I have always found him very approachable and friendly. He has really taken to our local community and said after the harmain sharif he likes to spend ramadan in our local masjid.

How about:
We all have to earn to make a living, what kind of work do you think are best suitable for Muslims both as an employee and business?

Do anything Halal and what you are good at is the best type of work. Or do you mean what fields we should get into and train the young generation to get into in order to benefit the Ummah?

Yes I do mean what you said but as well as that what fields are actually halal. And work differs from a professional to a layman if both could be explored it would be very beneficial.

I shall ask the shaykh. My questions will be;

1. Apart from tablighi jamaat are there any other avenues of preserving imaan and amaal especially in the west.
2. How does one make my young son an islamic scholar. Some tips
3. Don't you think the medium of teaching should be arabic in islamic institutes and that there needs to be a massive change in how we work.
4. How to avoid riba in the west through mortgages and student loans. How to deal with society
5. How can one avoid student loans and how such topics are neglected by imams
6. Why are the ulema largely silent on Sisi considering Morsi was a big step in the right direction when looking at the Muslim world
7. How to educate our womenfolk. The current state of women is abysmal
8. Modernism and how certain nadwis and others are advocating that if we are pure we don't need segregation
9. How to deal with modernism and modernist ulema
10. Where does the next revivial of Islam seem to come from? Which geographical area, set of scholars or group

Jazakallahu khayran for Question #5 as that's what came to my mind.

Maybe most Ulama think interest loans are reserved to bank loans and house mortgages which "deendar" people avoid...but almost everyone takes tuition loans from the government.
Hafiz, mureed, 4 months jamat saathi, goes to campus in full sunnah libaas with fist-length beard, niqabi, comes from strong tablighi family...they still take govt. loans on which you eventually have to pay interest.
And most know deep down it is haram but Ulama need to speak more on this so people feel compelled to avoid it. Perhaps workshops should be held by educated professionals on how to avoid tuition loans while studying and how to budget so that you can pay off loons quickly.

Lately few scholars from the western himsephere raised awereness about the Islamic Awqaf system and it's need for serious scholarly work to be done. Maybe you can ask Mawlana regarding it, if he agree that this is a need of our time & how it could be possible to establish such in the West, obviously without backing up of a goverment. Jazak'Allah khayran, looking forward to it.

And please keep in mind to not get him "ranting & bickering", which might let the Shaykh look bad later on.

The problem here is the terminology. Instead of using the word RIBA/INTEREST they replace it with fancy words and thus changing its meaning and intent of use - This is how most so-called Islamic banks do halal banking but in reality, its the same thing, Wallahu Alum.

The interview has happened friends are working on a detailed write up. Inshallah it shall be posted on this thread. It was an absolutely mind blowing interview. A long time since I met an alim who overawed me so much. There is a possibility that brother Jinn ,myself and some other brothers will inshallah meet maulana again for another interview. The proposed second interview would most likely be sulook related questions by brother jinn and other questions which maybe other brothers will ask.
