Assalamy alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

How do some brothers/sisters recite such huge wazifas in one shot or over a short period of time?
I understand Mashayikh doing so easily by virtue of great barakah and possibly some karamaat too, but how do regular Muslims pull these off? Maybe once somebody starts the zikr, Allah Ta'ala gives them the barakah to finish it...

Examples:
4444x Durood-e-Naariyah in one shot
125,000x Istighfar in one week

When there's a will there's a way.

Sometimes I find myself not being able to read the Quran at all and sometimes its so easy like in Ramadhan, where we can easily complete the Quran in 1 month. The quickest I've managed to complete the entire Quran including going to work all day, going to the mosque for Salaah and spending time with the family was 6 days, cover to cover. That might not be much, but for me it was an achievement.

It's possible to recite zikr in quantity during normal every day activities, if you make a habit of reciting a certain zikr whilst your not talking, every second will become a source of ibadah.

If you practically time yourself and see how many times your able to recite a particular zikr in 10mins, it will give you an idea of how much is possible in a whole day.

If you can take time out it's fine, and if you cant it's still possible. Alhumdulillah

I don't mean to belittle your efforts in any way, but a khatm in 6 days is very doable. A khatm in 6 hours is also doable for many huffaz.
I was talking more about a'maal/wazaif that seem impossible to do.
That's why I gave those examples. How deos one sit down and finish 4000+ durood-naariyah in one go. It'll take two days at least...

True bro, but like you said it's doable in six hours but I am not a quran specialist, no hifz and working hard all day and family life too. So six days is pretty good in my books, especially when I hardly get a chance in this hectic schedule and kuffar surrounding.

May be the 'numbers' are not that important anyway ? See on the day of judgement our deeds will be 'weighed' not 'counted'.According to Hadeeth the 'Amal' which is done regularly carry more weight than the one done intermittently.

How about concentrating on the 'quality' rather than 'quantity' ?

And why not keep our tongue with Dhikr most of the time without counting it ? Difficult but very much possible !

When a person remains steadfast on the the small a'mal with ikhlas, Allah ta'ala will give tawfiq to increase the amount of those a'mal.

Just because something is counted in this life doesn't mean it will weigh less in the next life.

Also, what exactly is 'quality' and how does on concentrate on it?
One person doesn't count his azkaar so he simply sits and does zikr for however long he wants...Quality over quantity for him....When his nafs feels like stopping, he stops, when his nafs feels like continuing he continues.
Other person has a target when he sits. Whether his nafs feels good or not, he keeps going till he's done. In his zikr, there is mujahidah against the nafs. If he is doing the zikr as a wazifa because he is in great need, then there is great feeling and yearning in his zikr.
Our mashayikh tell us to count big numbers in many instances:
X number of khatms in Ramadan (e.g. 60+)
X000's of durood on Friday
70,000 kalimah tayyibah as isaale sawab, 70K or 125K dua-e-yunus in time of need
41x surah yaseen, 41x surah fatiha in time of need

Keeping tongue moist in zikr all the time without counting is hard. In my own experience, it is better to set a target. This way you'll be reminded to do zikr when you forget. You'll force yourself to always be in zikr.

A seeker wrote,’ I have not fixed the number of times I make remembrance (dhikr) (of Allah). When I get disinterested I stop. Counting puts a pressure on my mind to complete what is remaining.’

Hakim al Umma Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (Allah have mercy on him) replied,
‘This is a grave mistake.
Either fix a count or time period.
Leaving it on your own interest is opening the way for procrastination.’

السلام عليكم bro.

It is due to barakah in time. There are incidents in which awliya travelled by foot to cover very long distances which is covered in days just in half a day to attend jumaa. Its because Allah Ta'ala have given them barakah in time.

Don't you remember the incident in which Khalid bin Waleed رضي الله عنه while marching with the army (I forgot which battle) slipped away and went to Makkah and did umrah and returned before the army reached the destination. It took weeks to cover long distance in those days.

Nevertheless... as mentioned above... qualiity over quantity is something we have to be careful about.

W-Salam,

Army Cavalry moves at a certain speed because it has riders and those who walk plus heavy weapons, canons etc. The pride of Islam (Sayyidina) Khalid (RA) took his hand picked men with fast horses and bypassed them in a straight line and then joined them back. This is perfectly reasonable and not really a miracle of any kind.

He got caught in the act by Khalafeetur-Rasool (Sayyidina) Abu-Bakr (RA) but that's a different story :P

It is the norm of jahil sufiya to do lots of wazaif but when it comes to namaz they are lazy
I remember when my murshad was advising on mamoolat, he said if someone is making dharb of Allah Allah and then there is call for prayer and he does not attends it, what is the point of doing this dharb?

Yes doing long wazaif one may feel or experience something but...
...there is a danger a person will make these experiences as an objective instead of the real maqsat

Therefore a shaikh's guidance is must for roohani tarbiyat, because this path is like jumping into a dark place where you do not know what will be the outcome but if you have the light which is your shaikh then you will be always on the safe side....
