Hadhrat Doc sahab, this discussion is going nowhere and just undermines Mufti Abdur-Rahman's authority in the silsilah, although he made his standpoint quite clear and he clearly did not come up with it himself. If you have genuine reservations about his opinion, then I recommend contacting the Shaykh directly and then let us know about the outcome of your discussion. Just a humble suggestion from this lowly sinner, who admits being totally ignorant about the discussed realms.
I have given references in the posts above.. which was also the outcome of Colonel sahab's discussion with Hazrat Mufti Kamaluddin sahab (db).
As far as Mufti Abdur Rahman sahab (db)'s authority in Naqshbandi Silsila is concerned.. kindly know that having an Ijazah is not a certificate of Kamaal..
Our Mashaikh have given Ijazah to some just for their Islaah.. saying that if we did not give Ijazah to some, their own islaah was difficult.. and to some we did not give Ijazah with the fear that their islah would be blocked..
Iam kind of concerned with the Shuyookh on Twitter and facebook these days..
Myself.. colonel sahab and bro london were in discussion with a Twitter shaikh yesterday (who makes it known that he is a shaikh)... and he just accuses colonel sahab & bro london of being deprived of the company of the pious.. just like that..
So iam kind of wary of these people and their methods of Islah..
See.. when a place is afflicted with drought, u do not feed people with diamonds and Rubies..just give them bread..
The condition of ummah is before u.. diseases of Batin are spread like epidemic.. and none can give daleel that they are safe..
so we need strong medications that can do a chemotherapy of the heart.. not vitamins..
The method of our Mashaikh was to address Tazkiyah part giving it prime importance..
we do have Shuyookh in Naqshbandi Tareeqa today who do not accept bayat that easily.. like Hazrat Shaikh Asif Hussain Farooqui sahab (db).. (there may be others too)..
The Young Mashaikh need a global vision to understand the Need of Tasawwuf and the psyche of people.. regardless of their followers on Twitter and Facebook..
Regardless if they fail to enchant people with vitamins.. do remember that motivating people to take bitter medicine is a greater task than popping vitamins through their throat..
khair.. May Allah سبحانه وتعالى guide us all.. Ameen..
Mufti sahebs email address has been posted above, rather than other brothers copying and pasting messages and taking it back and forth. Why don't you email him yourself and discuss it in detail ? Once done you can post the details here.
He is an respectable mufti and is doing a lot of work for Deen, not just some random Joe who popped up on twitter/facebook. So I'm sure what he is saying he has reasons/daleel for it.

To think so otherwise and jump to conclusions would be disrespectful and uncalled for.
I have not been on this site for a long time but logged on today and happened to see this post.
I would recommend Muraqabah Dua'iya which was a Muraqabah taught by Hazrat Shaykh Zakariyya Rahimahullah and his Khulafa which I have personally heard from them and which does not need permission from a Shaykh and does not need one to follow up with a Shaykh. I have heard my Shaykh Rahimahullah say that Hazrat Shaykh was given/inspired by Allah with this Muraqabah for his Khanqah.
Its method is thus: Close your eyes and look towards your heart. Put your tongue on your top palate (recommended) so that it does not move and begin to make dua in your heart only without lifting the hands. Make dua for yourself for five minutes, make dua for the ummah for five minutes and make dua for good conditions in the world like safety from crime, natural disasters, poverty etc for five minutes. By all means increase the time as you go along.
Further I would recommend: You should also in this time talk to Allah Ta'ala intimately. This is called munajaat. Pour your heart out to Allah as if He is in front of you and tell Him all your worries and concerns. Thank Allah profusely and sincerely and seek His forgiveness, admit to Him your weaknesses and ask Him to reform you. Seek Allah’s help and advice in all your affairs and confide in Him and put all your matters before Him. Realise that without Allah Ta'ala you have less power than even one speck of dust. Talk to Allah as a lover calling out to his beloved, as a humble grateful slave lowering himself to his master, as a weak incapable person calling out to the only One he knows is capable of seeing to all his needs. Thereafter trust in Him.
You should also look deep within yourself and the wonders in your creation and thank Allah for creating you, giving you life, a heart soul, spirit and body, hearing, sight, understanding etc.
I was speaking to a brother on this forum few days ago on this very topic of Azkar and mentioned to him the following (I’m copying and pasting as is)
‘One of The easiest and fastest ways to Allahs love and Marifah is through sincere Shukr. Sadly nobody does this today. As Allah Ta’ala says- ‘Very few of My slaves are thankful.’ Those that are, are given a special rank with Allah as they are so few. Shukr and contemplation of Allahs blessings within oneself and istighfar from the heart should constantly be done alongside the islahi awrad and azkar for true love and Yaqeen to be embedded in the heart. This was the way of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam when he was asked why he stood so long in salah that his feet got swollen and he replied teaching us a lesson in love with such beautiful words that gave us insights into his heart and feeling for Allah by saying:
افلا أكون عبدا شكورا
Should I not be a grateful slave
In this is a great lesson for us. But we don’t see any effects of our Shukr as it is mere lip service and not heartfelt. If it was heartfelt and sincere and we thanked Allah like we would forever thank a person that saved our life and feel indebted to him then our hearts would come alive and we would not need so much of specialised forms of zikr and muraqabah. The salik needs to talk To Allah in solitude in munajaat, pouring out his heart to Allah daily, expressing his need and weakness and dependence on Allah, seeking His Grace and Rahmah, Help and Maghfirah, admire Allah, adore Him and be amazed at His qualities and beauty care and love for us. If he looks deep within himself he will realise and find all this. These A’mal al Qalbiyyah (actions of the heart) should be done as a daily practice like how Isme Zat, Pas Anfas , Bara Tasbeeh, Muraqabah etc are done’
Shaykh Ahmad Tijani, Rahimahullah said: In this time Shukr is the closest door to Allah, and whoever does not enter through it, does not enter!
As for the Muraqabah zikr of Allah Allah that you asked about, Shaykh Zulfiqar does mention this in his lectures which are often attended by those seeking to take bayah as well. This is done Ta’leeman - to teach and encourage’ Shaykh says the words of bayah and mentions the basic azkar to be done and for those who took the bayah and that includes the muraqabah you mentioned. He also says specifically to do it for a few minutes a day, like 10-15 minutes and not for hours. Yes, the Shaykh knows that those people in the gathering who have not taken bayah will also do it so he specifically mentions it to be done only 10-15 or 20 minutes. You will not go crazy if you take Allahs name in your heart daily for 10-20 minutes but what may happen is that you may come closer to Allah or you may see beautiful dreams for some time and feel some good effects. (provided you stay away form sin). This is why some Mashaikh may say that it is permitted to do it even though one has no Shaykh
But 10-15 or 20 minutes is not enough for a person to reach the stage of Ihsan so for further progress a Shaykh is needed and absolutely necessary. Even if you just do muraqabah of ‘Allah Allah’ without the guidance of a Shaykh you may not be able to be consistent. Eventually, Shaytan will tell you it is better to read the kalimah, or durood, or a Quranic verse or some other zikr with the result that you might leave it altogether. When a person on his own does too much or has too many options many times he ends up leaving everything or doing an assortment of azkar without any consistency and so does not spiritually benefit in terms of islah and he ends up more confused. If you decide to do the muraqabah on your own then make sure you stick with it and not leave it. Leaving ones zikr results in a person going back to his previous condition and he actually becomes worse. You can very easily contact Mufti A.R Mangera (or the other Shuyukh mentioned) and just inform him that you saw his video and are doing the muraqabah and would like to correspond with him and do it under his guidance so that you are consistent and guided in it. No need to take bayah.
If a person decides to do muraqabah or the kalimah or Quranic Ayats in the thousands then he should understand that the Mashaikh say that these azkar are very hot for the mind and reciting them in the thousands on one's own without a Shaykhs guidance may result in the veins on the side of the forehead to get dry and this could result in weakness of the brain, mind and in mental illness. Yes I have personally seen this happen. On the other hand Durood Shareef is cool and has a cooling effect on the mind and has no side effects and it won't harm a person . So why not read a short Durood like ‘Jazallahu anna Muhamamdan ma huwa ahluhu’. I have seen people attain high levels of nisbat by reading this durood in the thousands daily. It is a saying of the Mashaikh that whoever does not have a Shaykh should recite much Durood until he finds a Shaykh.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
