As salaamu wa alay kum.

I was few months ago in the Jumuah bayan of Maulana Salman Bijnori - top Ulamah and top Ustad e Hadith who teaches in Deoband and Hazrath db said a very pertinent thing:

That the situation of Muslims today is like that of an emergency, and more importantly that on bayans on Jumuah we need to address relevant pressing issues that plague the ummah and not make a ritual of talking on some topics all the time.

Hazraths bayan was very informative, he picked a topic every 5-10 minutes that the Muslims today face and explained step by step in a sort of Q and A session (He spoke of how the modernists or even non-Muslims may ask questions on this topic and answered it himself) - it was deep even though I got to listen to the last 20-30 minutes.

He was in the end of the speech very clear that the Ulamah today need to address relevant issues plaguing the Muslim ummah.

I met him after the bayan, wanted to talk to him in detail regarding the same and other things but you know about spoons - they spoil the taste.

-----------------

So I ask you:

What do you think are the subjects topics that the Ulamah should address today?

Today at Jummah in the West End of London, the Imam said something very good and similar too.

He said we hold functions and gatherings and what not, but the turnover is not so high. Since Jummah is fard, and everyone turns up, we should utilize this time and educate the people.

I guess he was trying say make the most of this day and educate the ummah at a time when we know they "will" be there.

Taking that into consideration and the question of the shaykh above, both put together would make educating us lay people much more effective.

Social conduct and etiquettes. Find this area to be the weakest area within our families and communities. Life would be so much more beautiful if we understood and learnt how to behave and live with each other, with both Muslims and non-muslims alike.

Sis, if you would only know how irtidaad + modernism is spreading - you'd be just grateful that people have Imaan even if they have no akhlaque. But jazakAllah khair for the words.

If you are referring to Zakir Naik - I say warn the people but present proofs. (This is not discrimination)

Present proofs.

So true, received news article yesterday of two girls who came over from Pakistan to study in Manchester, breaking history of being first to enter into civil partnership at Leeds registration office, both girls from Muslim background with Muslim names. Makes you wonder where and when it all started going wrong.

Allah save them and grant them guidance, and protect us and our children.

@Muadh.

Unfortunately, these things aren't only happening in the West, these are going on in their own countries. In fact, I believe they've brought it over to the West and added to the fuel.

For the Asian community the biggest problem is here

Once these are tackled, then some basic Islamic knowledge on the punishments of sins to warn us sinners and then some glad tidings to uplift us weak Muslims.

Once the fear enters the heart and the consequences are rooted into the brain, inshaAllah, there will be change.
