Many of us consider and call the longer hair style (as seen by tablighi brothers) as Sunnah. AKA Zulfa

There are 3 types of Zulfa, but can they be called a Sunnah and be rewarded for it as a Sunnah?

The hair of the Prophet (SAW) came down to his earlobes, or between his ears and his shoulders, or it reached his shoulders. When his hair grew long, he would put it in four braids. He would even shave his head at times.

The order from the Prophet (SAW) was, “Whoever has hair, let him take care of it.”

Braids are similar to platted hair. (plats)

When the prophet (saw) went for Hajj, he had his braided in four braids. There are a few narrations regarding this.

Although this was done, it does not male it a Sunnah.

It depends on the custom of the area as to what is accepted and what is not.

In this day and age, braids are normally found on Rasta's. And we learn from the prophet that we will be with those whom we imitate.

To cut the beard is HARAM below one fists length.

Your question is invalid!

Not being able to grow a beard is a different situation and you would not be at fault.

Since you are 15, I guess you should ask your parents. Some parents cant stand the look of a zulfa and some parents don't like it because unfortunately it reminds them of a particular Sunni group.

That someone is probably also young and doesn't have understanding.

There is no such rule.

It best for you and that someone to consult your local Imam.

better not to grow long hair when you're young and before you've grown at least some of your beard. especially if you're a madrasa student.

Jazakallah kanzoorbhai for your input.

I may be mistaken and I always appreciate it when I am corrected and may Allah reward those who correct us with the right intention.

May you please give a brief reasoning as to why you said what you have. I do see the benefits of not having long hair without a beard, but would aappreciate it if you could shed more light on it.

Jazakallahu Khair.

salaam

i have always understood beardless youth not keeping zulfa is because of looking like girls/women and getting attention from people who are attracted by this sort of thing.

didnt the prophet (saw) only shave his hair for hajj and umrah and kept zulfa at all other times?

as for braids, if the ulama started keeping braids then it would return to being a sunnah and not imitation of non-muslims.
