All she needed was a lighter!

Keep it coming, I'll have a light ready

SMOKING DAMAGES HEALTH - maybe

You cant be serious. You really are convinced that smoking is safe. SubhanAllah.

Well anyway, I pray to Allah that it doesnt become the destruction of your health, wealth and Imaan.

InshaAllah, I have a solution to end this.

Lets both stub it out together.

I lose my bad habit and you lose yours.

I stop my habit of replying to everything and you stop the bad habit of smoking.

We've both made our points. My view leads to safety and yours the other way. Any reader reading this thread can come to their own conclusion.

Jazakallah.

Theres a hadith if im right, that you can't make dua for a prolonged life as your death is written and lifespan cannot be changed.

So why are we saying smoking can kill you, i.e bring you death, when it clearly doesnt.

Anyhoo if it was really really clear cut HARAM then you wouldnt have Ulema who smoke. (and there are very noteable Ulema who smoke /  or who have now quit at the least.)

I think its only better that Admin now blocks this thread.

I' ve just had the time to read through this and its actually become a bit of a battle of the NAFs. (Sorry)

I dont feel there is no longer anything meaning full or educational behind the replies. Just a simple battle of individuals personal opions and analogies.

You people who smoke are all Abdul Nicotine or even AbdusCigarette.

Smoking is harmful to the human mind and its power to reason. An obvious demonstration of this is that one who is addicted to it passes through periods of severe craving, making it hard for him to think, concentrate, solve a problem, or do any important matter, until he smokes.
His digestive system is also affected, causing him frequent nervousness and trembling of the hands. He passes through periods of excitability and he becomes an insomniac.

Therefore, instead of being the slave of Allah, a smoker becomes a slave to his cigarette. The faculty of reason, clear and unobstructed, is one of Allah's great bounties on people. Allah Ta'ala has praised it in numerous places of the Qura'an; and He called on people to use it to see the truth and obey Him in a better way. Allah wants of the believer to be strong and capable of controlling the reigns of his desires.

You are following your desire and as far as I can remember there is a pdf as mentioned by the guest which talks about following desires can lead to shirk.

Forget your health, protect your deen and your health will automatically get better. Be an AbdAllah not Abdul Rothmans.

That comment is from Darul Uloom Bury's website. Not in those words (abdl...)

http://www.inter-islam.org/Prohibitions/smoking.htm

AND ON PAGE 1 http://www.muftisays.com/forums/14-peoples-say/5159-shisha--huka--smoking--pipes.html?p=24430#24430

Thread locked

As the points have been made and are being brushed a side or not understood.

Plenty of detail on that condemming those who chew tabacco too. Hazrat or no hazrat. If you have a valid reason to post, then Please PM my self or Admin to have it unlocked.

Fatwa's on Smoking (Haram or Makruh)

Fatwa 1 Fatwa 2 Fatwa 3 Fatwa 4 Fatwa 5 Fatwa 6 Fatwa 7 Fatwa 8 Fatwa 9 Fatwa 10 Fatwa 11 Fatwa 12

Plenty more with both views.

You have a choice, refrain from Haram or Makruh (what ever the topic) and give in to Allah or give in to that which displeases Allah. Simple.

Be an Abdullah or AdbuNafs.

I think this thread should remain locked if nothing postive is taken from it or posted here onwards. I dont think its a good idea for people to come and say that smoking may not be bad for your health, that is absurd.

This thread should answer your questions, be your own judge, come to your own conclusion. www.muftisays.com/forums/14-peoples-say/7334-likingordisl...

Following Desires post www.muftisays.com/forums/taqleed-the-straight-path/4944/p...

Slightly different, but look at the severity of the topic. Does smoking fulfil a corrupt desire? Would you be able to give up smoking for the sake of Allah? If Yes Alhumdulillah, if not, then we shall leave it to Allah.

i actually forgot to add that I don't agree with smoking and I think we shouldn't smoke, but we shouldn't label it as haram.

Because then we are taking those brothers who are smoking potentially out of the fold of Islam by accusing them of continuing to do haram.

no one should be told that their love for a habit is greater than their love for Allah. That's wrong

no body smokes to disrespect Allah, they smoke cos they have picked up a bad habit. That's what humans do.

May Allah protect us all.

Is that all you came up with to disprove smoking doesn't kill.
Yes that's all I'm sorry it wasn't enough for you. Also, I provided that (not "came up with") to prove (not "disprove") that smoking doesn't kill.

The rest of your message is childish and meaningless so I will ignore that. Also there's no real questions on the topic of why it's Haram so I'll ignore all the other off-topic and personal attacks too. If I missed anything worth answering then you can just paste it again.

Moving on..

So my entire last entry was ignored and then ridicule, sending funny images and attacks on my Iman start? You should be ashamed to be admins of an Islamic web site.

abu mohammed wrote:
You have a choice
You have no right to give anyone a choice. This is your biggest issue, pride and stubbornness kills more than smoking. Also, pride is clearly Haram from Qur'aan whereas smoking is not. So please don't judge others who do an act that is socially disliked by doing an act which is made Haram by the Lord.

And then you found something I said and thought you have something to attack about again? Truly sad brother:
You cant be serious. You really are convinced that smoking is safe. SubhanAllah.
If you find me one place I said "smoking is safe" then I will quit smoking now. But just like you make things up about smoking, smokers, Taqdeer, you believe something to be Haram because of PERSONAL hatred. Your Nafs is overwhelming you so much. My nicotine addiction is nothing compared to the personal vendetta you have against smokers which is making you label it Haram.

Over the past few pages, you have changed from one angle to another, contradicting yourself and then finally locking this thread so no more input can be given? So weak and shameful.

If you have anything worthy to say to me, I am open to answer since I have over 20 years of experience in this matter and am confident of answering any claim from the answers and advice of my powerful NON SMOKING local Mufti friend, from science and last but not least: from common sense. But if you want to post images, attack, question and judge my Iman, give choices to choose between Allah and nicotine then you're only a kid and I don't waste time with kids discussing a delicate topic. I am sorry if this was harsh

And finally, this is very important. Please fear hypocrisy as that is worse than smoking too.
We've both made our points. My view leads to safety and yours the other way. Any reader reading this thread can come to their own conclusion.

Don't say anything you don't mean because after "Any reader reading this thread can come to their own conclusion." you posted "You have a choice, refrain from Haram or Makruh (what ever the topic) and give in to Allah or give in to that which displeases Allah. Simple. Be an Abdullah or AdbuNafs." - basically shoving your opinions down people's throats by guilt or fear of Allah into convincing them of your belief? Please let the readers choose for real

Can I just say that I think this is getting personal now and it shouldn't.

I love you for the sake of Allah and one thing I'm 200% on is that you all are Allah fearing.

We all have made our points, and above all Allah is our witness so let's call it a day now.....

Jazakallahu khair guest.

Firstly I would like to apologize for my errors. You did NOT say smoking was safe! Rather you said that Smoking MAYBE dangerous. Sorry.

Apologies for the lighter image, I thought it was not a valid excuse to stop smoking when she could've got a lighter.

I'm not having a go at anyone's imaan, and as it looks like that, then I sincerely apologize for that. I love you all for the sake of Allah. And I know you are better than me, MashaAllah.

Apologies for locking the the thread. It wasn't a personal option. Others had asked for it to be locked. I DID state that it could be unlocked. I was of the opinion that the thread should not be locked. Hence admin thanking me.

I am not an administrator. Please remember that. There is a difference between an administrator and an authorizer. Authorizers simply help the administrator in keeping the forums going and authorizing posts etc. Please don't put any blame on the Administrator.

Any link that I have provided that are to do with the Deen, I think are related, but that's my opinion and I'm not enforcing it upon anyone.

With regards to choice, then I won't side track off topic but I would like to mention that we are given a choice/free will.

There is a difference of opinion on this matter and I believe we've made that clear. Just on a personal level, I have taken the harsher one of haram.

Jazakallahu khair once again and please accept my sincere apologies.

At the same time I would like to point out that comments by other guests are being quoted and directed towards me as if I have said them. This is very misleading
