On that note, according to our deen our wives and children are a fitnah for us. Does that mean Islam discourages marriage altogether, be it one, or four?

Read this from Sh Abdul Wahab Saleem a little while back. I witnessed the exact same reactions from someone to actual incidents of polygamy vs fornication.

"The contrast in the attitude of some Muslims towards polygamy, when compared to their attitude towards extramarital relationships or homosexuality, is alarming:

Attitude towards a polygamist: "What a selfish p*g!? Wasn't one enough for him!? Those poor ladies!"

Attitude towards someone who is involved in extramarital relationships: "Astaghfirullah! May Allah protect us all! Anyone of us can fall into such sins. May Allah forgive that brother/sister."

Attitude towards a homosexual: "It's haram. We shouldn't judge people. Our religion doesn't allow this, but everyone can achieve salvation and everyone has their own tests!"

These are those people who, as brother xs11ax pointed out want to present Islam in a light that is acceptable to the Western world.

La howla Wala Quwat illabillah. Astaghfirullah. Death to secularism. Death to any system other than Islam.

Plz understand it in plain English:

When you are a guardian of some orphan girls and you are looking after their property and taking caring of them you've to do justice and equal treatment to them. If you fear of failing in doing justice concerning their property or beauty etc then marry one orphan girl and keep on doing justice to all other girls. If you can't do justice to other orphan girls (as their guardian) then you can marry maximum 4 girls and keep on dealing justly with rest others (if you've more than 4 orphan girls), so justice concerning their property etc is more important than marrying them.

If you've married 4 orphans then now they're your wives and being their husband you've to do justice, but if you fear of not doing justice as a husband then don't marry more than one orphan and keep on doing justice to them as being their guardian.

Polygamy is permitted in Islam:

If your wife can't satisfy you or she can't become a mother or have fear of fornication or fear of dealing unjustly with orphans or widows have no bachelor to marry them etc

BUT

“You are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire: but turn not away (from a woman) altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air)…” (Surah al-Nisa, 129)

Sayyida A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) would treat his wives equally and justly, and then say: “O Allah! This is my distribution according to my capability, thus do not hold me for what you own and I don’t (meaning, what is in your capability and beyond my means).”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, no. 1140, Sunan Abu Dawud, no. 3133 & Musnad Ahmad)

Even the prophet (saw) is apprehensive of being questioned on judgment day then what about us...?

LOL iv not been on for a while and jus saw this comment. What are you on about? Virtually every sahabi did polygamy so where on earth did you get idea its not encouraged. Sounds like Liberal rubbish. Islam openly encourages it. Ayah starts of marry two three four but if u fear u cnt do just then stick to one.

Using your analogy goign hajj umrah jihad Madrassa is not encouraged as hadith warns those who do any of the above with riyah will be sent to hell.

If it wasn't fact its very expensive to find house for one wife never mind four more people will have multiple wives. In societies like UK I think it's almost a must. Zinaa is so easy here and promoted non stop its probably safer for ones imaan.

I think everyone is misinterpreting what he's saying. Possibly due to the way it's written.

See OP. He is asking why has man made law been given preference over shariah in a Muslim majority country.

The rest should fall in place!

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

The thread was going in the direction intended by the original post. He changed the direction by coming out with this Arfatism...

Quote:
Polygamy isn't encouraged in Islam though but the bottomline is that law of a Muslim country is violating the shariah.

Do to his Arfatism, other Muslims rightfully challenged him to set matters right.

Polygamy is a necessity because there are more women than men in this world. Secondly there are fewer men who are responsible and hard working so more of this sunnah is needed today to compensate the large demand and little supply of good responsible men.

Finally we have to break all the un islamic local traditions including the Hindu ones and start practicing pure untouched Islam.

Reference of your interpretation?

Ayah says that if you can't treat orphan girl in your custody, justly,  if you marry her (as that gaurdian at that time by marrying her, instead of giving her dowry etc. would take her things, property too) , then instead of marrying that orphan girl you should go for other women you like from 2 to 4, and incase you can't treat multiple women justly then go for only one.

This ayah encourages to marry other women instead of orphan girls in your custody, if you can't treat them and take care of their rights justly.
