Is there evidence to suggest the Deobandi's are in the pockets of the Saudi's

As of 20xx onwards, Saudi Government has changed their policy of helping Institutes in the West due to political fallouts. Prior to it, it was pretty simple to write to the Saudi Embassy explain your position and get help. As long as you agreed with Saudi Embassy guidelines, you were given money.

Many Masjids didn’t because Saudi Embassy demanded certain things and many Institutes values their independence.

It was very common to get Dawah Material and dates etc out of Saudi embassy until very recently, I think it was even on TV (in some documentary).

Back in the day, I wrote plenty of letters on behalf of many Masjids to get boxes of Madina dates. Some Masjids still get them to this day.

Until a few years ago, many people were authorised to grant letters of recommendations for people to get admission into Madina university and get scholarships etc. There are hundreds if not thousands who got it because they say some visiting Saudi or Imam of Haram and got a recommendation letter. This also, no longer happens.

Absolutely and let me make it clear again that I am not saying that these Ulama are in pockets of Saudi Arabia. Maulana Tariq Jameel Saheb (HA) is simply being hospitable and following Sunnah, being kind to Guests is Sunnah.

It’s the Saudees who manipulate these matters. When the Imams of Haram come to your country, what are you supposed to do? Ignore guests?

I am however saying that Ulama should realise the manipulation.
