I feel its one of them statements you have to make to get some brownie points from hindu brethren. Muslims deep down know that it's not a reality but just to get that feel good factor for a moment.

True, sadly.
Our sins must have compounded a lot for only in that case we would be reduced to such pathetic state.
This is a state in which it would be better for us to live below the ground rather than above it.
Most disgusting.

As you mentioned, you have not clicked the link, otherwise you would have known that he is mentioning many more things in addition to Topi and Kurta...

Still, i did not feel good while listening to his speech.

The kind of freedom he is talking about is available in abundance, ‘almost’ everywhere in the world, but that is not the freedom that defines the ‘rights’ of the Muslims of India. Allama Iqbal ra once said, about the India of his time :

ملاّ کو جو ہے ہند میں سجدے کی اجازت
ناداں یہ سمجھتا ہے کہ اسلام ہے آزاد

(As Mulla is free to perform sajda in hind, he takes it as a sign of religious freedom)

A Supreme Court Lawyer in AMU

Our teachers association, AMUTA (Aligarh Muslim University Teachers Association), invited a Supreme Court (of India) lawyer, Mr Pasha, to speak on CAA+NPR+NRC. It was a long and winding lecture and I must say uninspiring like all legal things. (Kindly forgive my bias.)

Whatever he said must be known to all those who have been following the news regarding these draconian (for Muslims of India) exercises.

And today's programme only strengthened my feeling that our teaching community is (1) clueless, (2) courage less and perhaps (3) lacks concern for the state and future of Muslims in India. These are extremely damning adjectives and I find myself lacking courage to accept this state of affairs. Absolutely incredible.

Did that lawyer at least say that the act itself is unconstitutional because it is and will be rejected by supreme Court? If the supreme Court fails to provide justice, what should be the next step for Muslims?

On the count he told us that the Supreme Court will take up the issue only after the exercise has been conducted and then decide whether it was constitutional or not. He also reminded that since we can not criticize the Supreme Court we are really helpless in this regard.

This is absolutely unsatisfactory state of affairs and makes it urgent that the protests by us work and the government scraps the draconian process that they have put in motion.

So the protests will be going on and the supreme Court will do nothing, the ruling party does not bother (and why would it when it is oppresive) and the opposition is split. It is only protest by people that we can stick to and none has the right to blame the supreme Court when we turn towards it for justice! How horrible and pathetic!

The Economist is Disenchanted with Modi

The Economist is a Islamophobic publication, its professional reputation apart. It has been coveting Modi all these years. Now it is disenchanted with him. Thanks God.

DIG Akash Kul-Hari

Mr Akash Kul-Hari is the Senior Superintendent of Police in Aligarh.

Recently he has been promoted to the post of DIG (Director General of Police). This could have been seen as a reward for his action against AMU students when they protested in solidarity with the Jamia students who were attacked by the Delhi Police because of their protests against CAA.

In independent India police has been seen to be against Muslims. Thankfully the higher officialdom was relatively secular.

Mr Kul-Hari should rightfully be classified among those police officers.

Sadly his actions in relation to AMU has been mostly negative. He has a lot of introspection to do.

Hypocrisy of Indian Liberals

RSS, the Saffron is Islamophobic is a fact that is well known.

My erstwhile colleague Professor Ariful Islam's investigations uncovered a huge set of data points that exposed the horrendous reality behind the decent facade of Indian polity - it is deeply Islamophobic.

And he has not been able to communicate this to India though he has been trying for three decades.

Here is an article that does reach the similar conclusion.
