Assalaamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh
Dear respected brothers in islam, what are the opinions from you about DR ZAKIR NAIK? well my opinion about him is ''he is a preacher of islam religion'' nothing else. Some well reputed ulama from Bangladesh are talking against him as an enemy of islm spending their precious time, which is i think ridiculous. Because an effort done by Dr Zakir Naik is unique. Maa shaa Allah lots of people accross the world are coming into islam by Allahs will through his lectures.
I heard one of his lectures where he was giving answer to a questioner regarding sania mirzas dressing while she plays tennis, he replies saying its her dress for that game. This is absolutely incorrect answer which he should not answer. Because he has not studied the fiqh or anything like that. Fatwa should be delivered from a mufti who has knowledge about fiqh. Now when we clear his misconceptions we should not approach as we are his enemy. We should make people understand that he is a preacher only, not responsible for fatwas. If we keep spreading messages saying he is kafir or zindeeq etc then it will make us bad to people as well as bad to Allah. And i think Zakir Naik has changed his answering method, before he used to answer all questions even if its regarding to sharia law. Now he says it should be asked to a specialist of sharia law when he gets any question regarding sharia. That means some ulama have informed him about these misconceptions.

Therefore i think it is better for ulama people to guide him nicely rather than backbiting on mahfil and jalsah of waaz.

Your opinions please..................

I do agree with moulana here. When a person is having following and has a unigue guality to handle the non-muslims, he should be handled delicately giving respect to his knowledge and his position. And that is from seerah. It hurts to hear from zealous ulema calling him zakir Nalayag. He is doing service to Islam where we can't reach, when I say WE, it is ulama-e-hag and their followers.

I agree with you moulana. A delegation was sent by ulama-e-hag to meet Dr Zakir Naik, I was one among them, we conveyed our concerns to him and told him, "we respect your knowledge in your domain, but figh his not your domain". As a gentleman and a person of Akhlag, he agreed to that. No exaggeration here.

Also Moulana Salman Husaini Nadvi DB also shared stage with him and conveyed the similar message. May be this is the reason we see a changed Dr Zakir Naik now.

There is saying "mahboob ko bura na kaho, woh mahboob ko naheen chhodega, tumhein chhod dega". So youngsters have muhabbat with Dr zakir naik, you say wrong against him. they shall leave you, not Dr zakir naik. May be this is the reason a large number of english speaking youth are drifting away from ulema.

What changes have come about since the delegation?

If it is understood that fiqh is not his domain, then he should not even be tackling fiqh questions. Instead he should say "I do not know". His teacher, Sh Ahmed Deedat had the courage to say that in front of the whole world. I really feel he should follow Sh Deedat in that aspect.

In my opinion our Ulama should worry about developing their own capabilities and less about Dr Zakir Naik.

The fundamental question is how come a person has come from nowhere and rocked Darul-uloom Deoban? Yesterday it was Maulana Maududi (RA) then Dr Israr Ahmed (RA) and now Dr Zakir Naik!

The only solutions to come are Fatwaas for people not to listen which very clearly and obviously don't work....Since 1928 surely Ulama should have learned their lesson that there is a market and the product is selling so upgrade your product instead of telling customers not to buy a product which they are interested in.

Today Maktabah Deoband is printing Maulana Maududi Tafseer upon which Fatwa upon Fatwa was given once upon a time.

Today a Deobandi Alim is defending Dr Zakir Naik upon which Fatwa upon Fatwa is given?

Does nobody else see the silliness and the futility of these tactics?

On contemporary issues Dr Israr Ahmed (RA) was 10 times smarter and more knowledgeable compared to an average Alim and Ulama are not even in the same league let alone competing so the question is to be honest with a capability difference and address it.

Nauman Ali Khan, Mufti Menk, Yasmin Mogahed are very good at presenting their point of view, our Ulama like using Urdu like a badge of honour whether the listener gets it or not.

Dr Akrm Nadwi is supremely dedicated and hard working, in 2 decades I have not seen that level of commitment and dedication in our (Western) Ulama at all.

Good qualities are simply paying of and Fatwaas just won't work.

Be honest, have a dialogue address the real issues and attract people to the Deeb by being better at it. We have 10-15 times more resources compared to these guys but our standard can be easily seen by following Maulana Abdur-Rahmaan Limbada (HA) on twitter!

Dr. Zakir Naik was appreciated because of his different style in presentation. It's a nature of human being to be attracted by something which wasn't seen before. According to my observation general people admired him for:

- eloquency
- command on books of other religions
- unique style of presenting reference from Quran (Sura no., Ayat no.) and Hadith (book name, chapter name, Hadith no.).

Deobandi 'Ulama are eloquent but totally clueless about other religions (in Bangladesh 'Ulama even don't know much about Shi'a doctrine). They don't present references with Ayat no. (they are not required to do so. But general people find "entertainment" in ZN's presentation which is absent in Deobandi 'Ulama's lectures.)

Deobandi 'Ulama's attitude is like (extreme version can be found among TJ people)- "we won't go beyond our Hazrat's Tareeqah", "we are presenting Haqq, Baatil can't persist forever" etc. This mindset stops them from upgrading their style.

However, some 'Ulama of the west adopted unique style and successfully drew masses towards them eg. Shaykh Zahir Mahmood, Shaykh Hasan Ali. We need more 'Ulama like them.

First Ulama from Darul-uloom Bury graduated in 1976. 50 graduates every year.

2 examples? At maximum less then 10.

Your post answers the issue itself.

Dr Zakir Naik is Indian so Indian Ulama need to be honest with themselves, their. institutions and their graduates.

In reference to Dr Naik not answering questions, is not true. He has his own program on his own channel where he answers all Fiqh questions.

I can't remember the name but it's something like, "Dare to ask" and he answers everything. These questions are not even about other religions, they are all based on Fiqh and Aqeedah.

The issues being discussed here are

1. Dr zakir naik deviations, his followers and how to handle this.
2. Our ulema, their responsibility

Reg Dr Zakir Naik's knowledge and his art of presenting, yes, he has an unique style, this can be mastered easily, but just for a few the conventional way of presenting deen not be changed. Any intellect from tableeg who has art of speaking can equally master ZN's style. But today,
ZN is not the only issue the ummah is facing.

Nor

The issues handeled by ZN are not the only issues ummah is facing today

Regarding how to handle zakir naik and the likes of him, is to honestly approve his services in HIS domain and reach to him, speak to him, and for we shall follow seerah.

We had a khateeb (a non aalim from JI), he used to memorize translation of a few ayah and ayah numbers in the whole week and present them as reference. The next week if you ask the reference for previous week's referred ayah he can't

I saw Dare to Ask 2 weeks ago in the Hakeem's office while waiting, whether it was a re-run or new I don't know.

Either way it was Aqeedah and Fiqh.

If the same Ulama were to form a team and make Mushwara as to why their graduates and institutions are unable to penetrate the youth it would have been far from beneficial then trying to form delegations and visiting a Ghair-Muqallaid and then defending his tactics.

Total failure!

No Aalim was present in the delegation, it had a selected english speaking graduates. But what to discuss was with mashwarah of local ulema. The result was that in his previous session in other city, ZN had mocked the four madhabs, which he didn't do in our town. Present Ulema should follow Moulana Salman Hussaini Nadvi DB and Mufti Taqi Uthmani DB here. In one of the lecture Mufti Taqi Uthmani DB discussed about groups and personalities who harmed the deen (similar to present) and these deviates had used quran and hadeeth to present their view. Mufti sahib quoted many examples for this and didn't quote names of any present individuals or group here, "samajhdar ko ishaara kaafi hai" otherwise "tu hi na maane toe baatein hazaar hain".

So, calling ZN Nalayaq will not help deen (nor it is from seerah), but, surely, his young followers will drift away from both deen and ulema-e-haq.

As reminded by Abu Mohammad....O saw Dare to Ask 2 weeka ago so the strategy clearly failed!

Why didn't these "intellectuals" think about visiting Ulama and putting their concerns to them to change their strategy? let me guess! Is it that they realised that its a futile waste of time???
