Many people nowadays are moving away from Taqleed and the following of qualified scholars because they find the opposing knowledge easier to find e.g. Islam channel, hadith websites, peace tv, University discussions e.t.c. We are not saying that these sources are wrong, but they promote DIY Islam, and modern day interpretations of the Qur'an and sunnah all the while moving away from classical, trusted and refined Islam.
The moral of the lecture being, that the Ulamah of true knowledge need to be sought out, just as historically this was evident with the Sahabah (radiallahu anhum), Tabiee and Taba Tabiee (rahmatullahi alaihim).
