There are 2 extremes to this issue. One extreme are those who say you HAVE TO do something on this night. Whilst the other extreme is to say, it is BIDAH and shirk.

The widely accepted opinion is that, you can woreship on the night and fast the next as IT IS proven by hadith, BUT you can't enforce it, or think it to be nesesary.
