“The struggle against the nafs in order to fulfil the Commands of Allāh ta’ala is mujāhadah. Through its blessings it becomes easy to carry out the Commands of Allāh ta’ala and to perform good deeds.

For instance, if a person is entrusted with a difficult job, it is obvious that the first time it will be very difficult. However, the more one engages in it, the easier it becomes. Likewise, when a person exerts effort in carrying out the Commands of Allāh ta’ala, then slowly but surely, the action becomes easier to do.”
