8) In The Highest Grade Of Jannah (Firdaus)
Anas (رضي الله عنه) reported: Umm Ar-Rubaiy'i bint Al-Bara', who was the mother of Harithah ibn Suraqah, came to the Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Will you not tell me about Harithah?' (He was killed in the battle of Badr with an arrow fired by an unidentified person). 'If he is in Jannah I shall show endurance, but if he has met another fate, I may exert myself in weeping for him.' He (صلي الله عليه وسلم) replied, "O mother of Harithah, in in the gardens of Jannah there are many ranks, and your son has attained Al-Firdaus, the highest.'' (Sahih al-Bukhari, vol 1, p394)
In this Hadith an unidentified arrow has been mentioned, which has been given several meanings: The first meaning is that it came from an unidentified direction. The second meaning is that the archer fired the arrow and accidentally hit him. The third meaning is that an unidentified person fired the arrow. The true explanation regarding this incident is that the archer aimed at the enemy but the arrow misfired and hit him. The various explanations stated above have been mentioned by Allama Ibn Hajar (رحمه الله) in Fathul Bari.
This is the special aspect of Jihad, that however the Muslim is granted the high grades of Jannah. the death occurs. In the battle of Khaybar, a Sahabi was Shaheed by his own sword by accident. When the people started gossiping about this incident the Prophet صلي الله عليه وسلم said, he will be given double reward than the normal Shuhadah, one reward for Shahadah and the second reward due to the people gossiping about him. It has been stated in another narration that whoever set out for Jihad and is killed by falling from his mount or from a bite of a poisonous insect or for any other reason, he will enter Paradise.
